Poem - Barramundi Marmalade

Updated on April 28, 2012

I read the hub by the seriously talented Mr Marmalade called;-

I know I know this was like a crypto type puzzle and nothing to do with either god or fishing but I could not resist, i fell into the trap and the words of this poem occurred to me.... thanks Mr Marmalade....

Barramundi marmalade… yuum

I tied to make conversation with it

Well since I paid the full fare I thought

Why sit here like a dummy

Alas we kept being interrupted

By stupid passenger and airline people

Yeah pay here pay here…, as if

And I never ever got a chance to get her number

Now and then I dream of my Barramundi

And think, some of these days,

fishing fishing … no, not, no chance,

no f**cking way…

I almost expected jesus to appear

and say hey Marm give us some of that fish

but then that is too far fetched

I know I know I must stop smoking this stuff

but it spreads so beautifully… wink wink…

Mr Marmalade, thanks very much for the very nice comment, it is always great to be able to exist on another level since this one often becomes too cluttered with thoughts.

On the Marmalade issue I refuse to capitulate, I like my Marmalade and refuse to engage with orange jam, how boring and brutish is that, let them find something new for the young - Marmalade belongs to its lifetime supporters. I propose that we establish a global campaign to save the Marmalade 1

      ....Mr Marmalade....

On the other hand Marmax has a certain ring to it.... enter the Marmalade dilemma...

      Dear Drax,

Without a shadow of doubt, you have really

      lifted my soul tonight.

I was woken this morning at 5.00 AM with a request for

$15,000.00, to allow me to become a millionaire by Friday.

      I kid you not.

Anyway I  have found most of it.

      Not all of it.

I communicated the almost success and was told all or nothing.

So you could understand my despondency.

You have taken me to another level, so I said to myself

      What am I worried about?

That's what life is all about. The good and the Bad

You have made my life good tonight.

      Thank you so much.

On another level the Serious manufacturers of Marmalade, are going to change the Name from Marmalade to Orange Jam, as the Young of the World do not like Marmalade.

I may have to call myself "ExMarma"

      What do you think?

there is something so compelling about your line "now and then I dream of my Barramundi".  it stunz me everytime I read it.  I just pause there, and there's something, some connotation and I can't fix on it, a feeling maybe veiled by the forces of reality that keeps me from accessing it.

      I'm entranced by that line.

I suspect MrM is going to love this one when he sees it. :)

I've been thinking about the full fare. also about the turnabout idea of providing fish for jesus, the masses feeding him.

there's so much in this one, it's going to take me several rereads to still misunderstand it with my own various takes on the whole of it and on bits and pieces apart.

your poetry and it's creativity and complexity rockz my sockz.

wonderful imagery. I love the sideways peeks into how you see thingz, trying on your eyes through your poetry. I too found MrM's barramundi compelling but I would never have thought of this.

      you delight me. :)
