Intro

Wow I can't believe I've been doing this for 11 weeks. It has been a joy writing here from isolation at the beach. The boardwalk and beach seem so alien compared to last year. No crowds so far and limited swimming in the ocean. them

The boardwalk is sparse with open businesses and he food stands are cash and carry. These poems are a respite from the day to day of being stuck around the house. I hope you enjoy reading them. If you do pass them on.

“At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun. “

— Sandy Gingras

Cranky People

This is for all the cranky people
Who like to whine and cry
Give up, stop being such a grump
You could smile if you tried

This is for all the cranky people
Try to be nice once in a while
Give up, stop being such a grump
You could smile if you tried

Crank people abound each day
Wish they'd go far away
Back to where cranky people roam

This is for all the cranky people
Who like to whine and cry
Give up, stop being such a grump
You could smile if you tried

This is for all the cranky people
Try to be nice once in a while
Give up, stop being such a grump
You could smile if you tried

A Puzzle

Oh what a puzzle
Is what we call life
Each day we add a piece
Hopin' to place it right

Sometimes it works out
Other times it don't
So we choose another piece
And try to move on

Sometimes we get impatient
Don't want to wait
So we try to force
The piece into place

Each time it doesn't fit
We get annoyed
Deep in our heart we think
We've made the right choice

God sees the puzzle
That we call life
He sees it complete
Each piece placed right
We don't have to struggle
Placing the pieces on our own
We can ask God to help us

See where each piece goes
He has the patience
To help us wait
So we won't try to put
A piece in the wrong place

Cause with God's guidance
We won't get annoyed
Deep in heart we must thank
God for making the right choices

This next poem was written for all those people who are in isolation and are feeling the pressure. It is a look at what you're feeling inside but don't put forth in spoken word. Oh yeah by the way, it is a tongue in cheek poem don't take it seriously.

Take A Hint

Take a hint
And go away
I'm tired of listening
To you today
All you've been doing
Is talk, talk, talk
Well I've got to work
So go take a walk

Don't feel bad
Don't get angry
About what I say
It's just you didn't

Take a hint

And go away

“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul.“ –

— Robert Wyland

State of Confusion

Where I am
Out there

Where
Here
Nowhere
I'm in a state of confusion
I'm in a state of confusion

Get up my days
In a constant haze
Running here
Running there
Why
It's become the style
I'm in a state of confusion
I'm in a state of confusion
The world moves
At such a pace
It;s a constant rat race
I'm in a state of confusion
I'm in a state of confusion
Where I am
Out there

Where
Here
Nowhere
We've got to learn
To slow down
Sit back
Take a break
Have a cup of tea
Don't you see
I'm in a state of confusion

I'm Still Here

I'm still here

After all these years
I'm still here
Drawing on my dreams
Moving across the line
Knowing all my days
Are going to be fine
Cause everyday I can wake
And see the morning sun
Is another day I know
My time here isn't done
I'm still here
I'm still here
With a smile on my face
I hold onto what's dear
Cause I'm still here

Celebrate

The Time to Celebrate

All time flies by
It all becomes a history
Celebrate in the now
Don't save your joy
For memories
For memories

Times were great back when
Life seems to work out that way
Here is always much worse
So as what they say
Can't let the past cover you
You'll miss all the joy
If you don't understand
It's like getting a new toy
You play with and when
The time is soon done
You place it on a shelf in your heart
Leave it alone

All time flies by
It all becomes a history
Celebrate in the now
Don't save your joy
For memories
For memories

Time doesn't stand still it moves
Leaves the life behind you
Nostalgia is ok, not when
It's all you want to do
There is nothing quite like being
Sure of what's in your heart
But if it's to crowded in there
Joy won't find a place to start

All time flies by
It all becomes a history
Celebrate in the now
Don't save your joy
For memories
For memories
Give yourself a chance to live life
You have to, you have to

Notes:

There you have my 11th installment of Poems From the Jersey Shore. Now the beach is finally open. People are returning and shops are opening. I’d like to say life is returning to normal but there is a still a lot of apprehension about being in crowds.

A lot of us are still sheltering in place which gives you a lot of time to write. On that note. I hoped you enjoyed this group of poems. As always please put your requests in the comments section.
