My Poem Series # 1 - Ghosts

Updated on September 15, 2012

I am writing a poem series because I was inspired by a fellow hubber Shelly Valentine. I wrote most of these poems 4-5 years ago, but I will look to add more in the future (if I get the right kind of inspirations(s). Critique me, but please know that I am not a professional writer. This is just my poor attempt at poetry and play of words; i like to write a poem on love and life!

For the first poem in the series, I am sharing a poem I called "Ghosts". I might reveal the exact meaning of this (for me, at least) if I get enough requests from fellow Hubbers. Not that I am being vain or something. I just want people to read my poems and decide for themselves what the words mean in their own interpretations. That's the beauty of poetry! But if at least 15 people ask me to reveal the meaning, then who am I to say no? =)

Requests are to be put on the comments box, not PM'd to me! =)

Give me those lights
for my eyes do not have them;
the swiftness of time
is a joke on us
trying relentlessly to catch
each other’s hands
only to find out
they already moved to another space.

Like a waif I wander
endlessly probing nowhere
forever seeing your face.
Is this an illusion?
The primrose in my hand
though it knows
will never have the voice to answer ---
not unlike me.

Now my immortal heart laughs
for you were never an angel
but a ghost in a rag.
Under the stars that shine
to call out your name
I walk in solitude.
Darling, we still walk under those same stars.

No better way to describe a ghost... a spooky poem.. yet a tinge of melody to it/..
