Practice at Forgiveness

Updated on August 21, 2012

Practice at Forgiveness

Would-be child prodigy at the piano

Ivory finger-stubbing with

Reluctant persistence, swinging a

Bat, revolving like a top into

Red clay of home plate.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Practice makes perfect

Hear the teacher; hear the coach:

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect.

How many times to continually

Work at forgiveness before the soul

Loses genuineness at the forced

Drilling, striving for

The perfect method of slate-wiping

Without tritely tolerating finger-tickling

And bat-bashing. No Hemmingway-

Defined courage, just

Meaningless mercy.
