Resignation letter sample - example letters for resigning
Below is a resignation letter sample for a situation where someone has to resign because of personal problems that they don’t want to write down. Generally, this type of letter can be easy or very difficult to write depending on your circumstances. Unless your employer has been exceptionally nasty, be considerate when choosing your words. A situation which looks a certain way today may be very different a few years down the line. Also be very careful when talking about personal information as it can be misused by others. Think about other people who may read your letter. Having said that, below is a basic letter that you can modify to suit your particular situation.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to inform you that I have decided to resign from the position of supervisor on 15 June. The reason for my decision is a very personal one and I prefer to discuss it with you in private. I have carefully thought this over and I have concluded that at this time, it is the best course of action to take.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking me on board and for allowing me to be part of the supervisory staff. The opportunities you have provided me during my time with the company have greatly helped me build my career. I have enjoyed the time I have spent working for JJKL Engineering and hope that you will be able to find a replacement soon. If I can be of any assistance during this transition period, please let me know.
If you wish to discuss this matter with me, I will be available this week during the normal working hours.
You can use this letter of resignation sample when you simply want to tell your employer that you are leaving but you do not want to write down any details as to why you are resigning. It's good etiquette to thank your employer in your letter and may be say that you have enjoyed working there. If your situation is different you can omit these details.
