Santa Claus is Coming to a City, Country, Province, or State Near You Books

Updated on September 8, 2015

Santa Claus is coming to town has always been one of my favorite Christmas song, Christmas TV show, and story. I even think at one point I sang the song in a 2nd grade chorus concert. The lines to the song are some of the ones I have never forgotten such as "You better watch out, you better not cry" and "he's making a list, checking it twice".

Recently at a book fair at my daughter's school, I found a series of books written by Steve Smallman and illustrated by Robert Dunn that brings Santa to almost every city and state in the United States, Canada, and many other countries around the world. The book fair had the following three books, Santa is Coming to Illinois, Santa is Coming to Chicago, and Santa is Coming to Naperville. Each book features Santa flying over various landmarks in the city or town that is being featured. And once they hear the landmark in the book, bringing them by the landmark they just read about becomes a unique experience for everyone.

Searching Amazon I found over 100 different Santa is coming to your town books including, Santa is Coming to Boston or London or California or the Carolinas or the Smokey Mountains or Texas or Colorado or Denver or Green Bay. These books are great gifts on Christmas Eve for pre-schoolers who are learning about Santa Claus and how he determines who is naughty and who is nice.

If you are looking for other Christmas traditions, you can check out my family's favorite children's christmas books or my mom's christmas eve pajama tradition.

@Seasons Greetings: The book series is mainly US based, however, I have seen that they expanded to Canada and a couple of places in Europe.

The book series sounds nice. Your title mildly aggravated me - sounds like Santa is only in the US.

Hi you are so right those line will always live within us. What a great ideal for a line of books. I wonder if there is one for the state of Alabama. Merry Christmas.

Can't remember the first time I heard the song, but it sure does stick in my head when I hear it! I'm surprised there is actually a "Santa Claus is Coming to Idaho" version of the book. My daughter will love it! Thanks.
