slithering

Updated on October 18, 2011

Slithering

in the night we

woke up

slithered next to

our make up

moment.

In it,

love

that is-

without it-

well

what is

worth having?

the next sun

simmered down

where we were

up again

living near

the swelter.

you don't know

no, you don't know

quit pretending!

we don't show

what you think you know.

Just for a reason

of being seen

by your watching

jealous gleam

you think you perceive

but we are not

what you are

thinking.

We are not

at all

your vicar-

ious

dream.

we are

slithering

out the skin

you saw

us in,

leaving it

before you

glimpse it.

What you love

is what

we were

before.

What we are

is more.
