Meet Stephanie Plum

Updated on April 6, 2014

Who is Stephanie Plum?

Stephanie Plum is the spunky, accident-prone main character in author Janet Evanovich's series of hilarious "female bounty hunter" books.

In the series centered around Trenton, New Jersey, Stephanie Plum starts out the series as a recently unemployed person who takes a temporary job at her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds company as a bond enforcement agent.

From that moment on the fun begins. Stephanie seems to attract trouble, is clumsy and accident prone in a "Lucille Ball" kind of way and still somehow seems to luck into solving every case.

Surrounded by a cast of colorful and crazy characters, Stephanie Plum is a fictional character that all women can relate to.

Stephanie is Infamous For Having "Bad Luck" with Vehicles!

Uncle Sandor's 1953 Powder Blue Buick Roadmaster

Stephanie Plum seems to attract vehicular mishaps, leading her to be constantly "borrowing" the powder blue Buick that Uncle Sandor left to Grandma Mazur when he died.

The Buick (which of course Stephanie hates) seems to be the only vehicle immune to her bad luck. In fact the Buick seems to be nearly indestructible, much to Stephanie's chagrin.

Some how Stephanie manages to destroy every car, truck or even the hilarious "Rollswagon" a Volkswagen/Rolls Royce nightmare creation. Stephanie's vehicles seem particularly prone to being blown up, bombed or set on fire.

Talk About Love Triangles!

And Diesel Makes 3

Stephanie already had her hands full trying to balance her affections between Italian Stallion, Joe Morelli and Latino Stud muffin Ricardo Carlos "Ranger" Manoso, when suddenly a third option, Diesel a Hunky Blond Bad boy with a heart of gold and supernatural powers, appears in her life in the "between the numbers" books.

We're all on the edge of our seats wondering who Stephanie will eventually end up with.

Who are these men?

Joe Morelli

This Italian stallion, known around the bail bonds office as "officer hottie" is Stephanie's on again, off again boyfriend. Stephanie has been infatuated with Morelli ever since he tricked her into playing "choo-choo" with him when she was just 6 years old. She has another brief encounter with him during his bad boy teen years, where she loses her virginity to him behind the counter, on the floor of the tasty bakery where she worked at age 16.

A few years later she sees him walking down the street, and in a rage runs him over with her father's Buick, breaking his leg. During her first case as a bounty hunter, she is sent to hunt down Joe Morelli who is now a vice cop wanted for murder. Stephanie eventually clears his name and they reconnect beginning a more grown-up on again, off again relationship.

Ricardo Carlos "Ranger" Manoso

Ranger is the mysterious Cuban, bad-ass bounty hunter that trains Stephanie and becomes her mentor. Ranger makes his attraction to Stephanie known at every opportunity. To Stephanie, Ranger is like that forbidden piece of chocolate, you just can't help taking a little taste of.

Stephanie's inept attempts at being a bounty hunter, land her in enough constant danger, where both men (who both admittedly love her) end up forming a partnership where they are forced grudgingly to work together often in their attempts to keep her safe.

Diesel

Diesel only appears in the "between the numbers" books, where he and Stephanie share fun flirtations, yet never cross that invisible line.

Morelli vs. Ranger - Which man should Stephanie choose?

Who do you think Stephanie will end up with?

If you were Stephanie who would you choose?

Morelli or Ranger, which man is best for Stephanie?

Visions of Sugar Plums: A Stephanie Plum Holiday Novel (Stephanie Plum Novels)
Visions of Sugar Plums: A Stephanie Plum Holiday Novel (Stephanie Plum Novels)

It's four days before Christmas and things are not looking merry for fugitive apprehension agent Stephanie Plum. She hasn't got a tree. She hasn't bought any presents. The malls are jam-packed with staggering shoppers. There's not a twinkle light anywhere to be seen in her apartment, and there's a strange man in her kitchen.

Sure, this has happened to Stephanie Plum before. Strangers, weirdos, felons, creeps, and lunatics are always finding their way to her front door. But this guy is different. This guy is mysterious, sexy--and he has his own agenda. His name is Diesel and he is a man on a mission. Diesel is unlike anyone Stephanie has ever met before in her life. The question is, What does he want with her? Can he help her find a little old toy maker who has skipped out on his bail right before Christmas? Can he survive the Plum family holiday dinner? Can he get Stephanie a tree that doesn't look like it was grown next to a nuclear power plant? These questions and more are keeping Stephanie awake at night. Not to mention the fact that she needs to find a bunch of nasty elves, her sister Valerie has a Christmas "surprise" for the Plums, her niece Mary Alice doesn't believe in Santa anymore, and Grandma Mazur has a new stud muffin. So bring out the plastic reindeer, strap on your jingle bells, and get ready to celebrate the holidays--Jersey style. Visions of Sugar Plums--the world of Plum has never been merrier! ~~ Janet Evanovich site review

The Wacky World Of Plum

Half of the fun of the Stephanie Plum Series is all of her little idiosycrasies and her outrageous cast of wacky sidekicks, odd-ball family members, and nemeses we all love to hate.

Stephanie's Pets

Rex the hampster who sleeps in a soup can and is a nice quiet room-mate.

Bob the Dog, a big Golden retriever that she shares custody of with Joe Morelli. Bob's favorite activities are: eating everything, including furniture, rolls of toilet paper and underwear, puking up odd things he's eaten & taking big dumps on Joyce Barnhardt's yard.

Stephanie's favorite Foods

Birthday cake ~ Pineapple upside-down cake ~ Boston Cream Donuts

Tasty cakes ~ PB & Olive sandwiches ~ Pizza from Pino's

Stephanie's hangover cure

Large Fries & a coke from MacDonalds

Stephanie's Family

Grandma Mazur

Lives with Stephanie's parents now that Grandpa Mazur is purchasing lottery tickets directly from God. Grandma Mazur is a teenager in an old lady's body that carries a big gun in her purse, wears innapropriate clothes, thinks wakes at the local funueral parlour are social affairs and loves to pretend she's "bounty huntering" with her grand-daughter.

Valerie

Stephanie's perfect older sister, who moved to California with her perfect husband and gave birth to 2 perfect daughters. In book 7 Valerie moves into her parents house after her marriage fails, along with her 2 daughters, the youngest thinks she's a horse. She tries out being a lesbian, then ends up pregnant by a chubby store front lawyer named Albert Klough who faints a lot.

Stephanie's Parents

Frank and Helen Plum have the perfect relationship, she cooks and he eats. He wishes everyone would move out of his house so he can hear the TV and she tipples in the kitchen to deal with her daughters antics.

Vinnie

Stephanie's cousin and boss at the bail bonds office. Vinnie is a slimey little pervert that is rumored to have had sex with a duck. He spends most of his time locked in his office viewing internet porn or talking to his bookie

Stephanie's Colorful Friends & Enemies

Friends

Mary Lou Stankovic

Stephanie's childhood best friend who is now married with children, but occasionally helps Stephanie spy on Joe Morelli.

Lula

Lula is a plus size former "Ho" who wears outrageous outfits that are 5 times too small. She is a reluctant fileclerck at the bail bonds office that prefers to ride shotgun whenever Stephanie picks up a FTA. Lula is sex-crazed, wild and hilarious.

Connie Rossoli

Is the big haired wide as she is tall receptionist at the bail bonds office. With family members in the mafia, connie is street tough and tons of fun.

Walter "Moon-Man" Dumphy

Moon-Man went to high school with Stephanie, and never really grew up. He was a stoner in school and is still a really mellow, spaced out sweetie-pie.

Salvatore "Sally" Sweet

Is a cross-dressing Rocker, who sometimes gets in the mix by solving puzzles, planning weddings and driving a school bus.

Enemies

Joyce Barnhardt

Stephanie's arch rival since grade school, who she caught her ex-husband doing it with on the dining room table right after they got married. Joyce cons Vinnie into letting her be a sometimes bounty hunter, by doing naughty things in his office that involve her barking like a dog.

Dickie Orr

Stephanie's sleezy ex-husband. A lawyer who is on the shady side of the law.

Grandma Bella

Joe Morelli's grandmother who claims to have visions (usually predicting doom for stephanie) and claims to be able to curse people by giving them the "eye."

Mysterious men have a way of showing up in Stephanie Plum's apartment. When the shadowy Diesel appears, he has a task for Stephanie-and he's not taking no for an answer. Annie Hart is a "relationship expert" who is wanted for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Stephanie needs to find her, fast. Diesel knows where she is.

So they make a deal: he'll help her get Annie if Stephanie plays matchmaker to several of Annie's most difficult clients. But someone wants to find Annie even more than Diesel and Stephanie. Someone with a nasty temper. And someone with "unmentionable" skills.

Does Diesel know more than he's saying about Annie Hart? Does Diesel have secrets he's keeping about Stephanie and the two men in her life-Ranger and Morelli? With Stephanie Plum in over her head, things are sure to get a little dicey and a little explosive, Jersey style!

Plum Lucky - A Between-the-Numbers Novel

Plum Lucky (Stephanie Plum: Between the Numbers)
Plum Lucky (Stephanie Plum: Between the Numbers)

Stephanie Plum has a way of attracting danger, lunatics, oddballs, bad luck... and mystery men. And no one is more mysterious than the unmentionable Diesel. He's back and hot on the trail of a little man in green pants who's lost a giant bag of money. Problem is the money isn't exactly lost. Stephanie's Grandma Mazur has found it, and like any good Jersey senior citizen she's high-tailed it in a Winnebago to Atlantic City and hit the slots.

With Lula and Connie in tow, Stephanie attempts to bring Grandma home. But the luck of the Irish is rubbing off on everyone. Lula's found a job modeling plus size lingerie. Connie's found a guy. Diesel's found Stephanie. And Stephanie has found herself in over her head with a caper involving thrice stolen money, a racehorse, a car chase and a bad case of hives. PLUM LUCKY is an all-you-can-eat buffet of thrills, chills, shrimp cocktail, plus-size underwear and scorching hot men.

Plum Spooky - A Between-the-Numbers Novel

Plum Spooky (Stephanie Plum: Between the Numbers)
Plum Spooky (Stephanie Plum: Between the Numbers)

According to legend, the Jersey Devil prowls the Pine Barrens and soars above the treetops in the dark of night. As eerie as this might seem, there are things in the Barrens that are even more frightening and dangerous. And there are monkeys. Lots of monkeys.

Wulf Grimoire is a world wanderer and an opportunist who can kill without remorse and disappear like smoke. He's chosen Martin Munch, boy genius, as his new business partner, and he's chosen the Barrens as his new playground.

Munch received his doctorate degree in quantum physics when he was twenty-two. He's now twenty-four, and while his brain is large, his body hasn't made it out of the boys' department at Macy's. Anyone who says good things come in small packages hasn't met Munch. Wulf Grimoire is looking for world domination. Martin Munch would be happy if he could just get a woman naked and tied to a tree.

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has Munch on her most-wanted list for failure to appear in court. Plum is the all-American girl stuck in an uncomfortable job, succeeding on luck and tenacity. Usually she gets her man. This time she gets a monkey. She also gets a big guy named Diesel.

Diesel pops in and out of Plum's life like birthday cake - delicious to look at and taste, not especially healthy as a steady diet, gone by the end of the week if not sooner. He's an uber bounty hunter with special skills when it comes to tracking men and pleasing women. He's after Grimoire, and now he's also after Munch. And if truth were told, he wouldn't mind setting Stephanie Plum in his crosshairs.

Diesel and Plum hunt down Munch and Grimoire, following them into the Barrens, surviving cranberry bogs, the Jersey Devil, a hair-raising experience, sand in their underwear, and, of course . . . monkeys.
