The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
The Magic of Twilight
Through Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer has created a beautiful vampire story in the Twilight Saga. While the series offers a softer, gentler storyline geared for teens, Stephenie has also managed to draw in and fascinate readers of all ages. What makes this series so popular?
I think one of the reasons the Twilight storyline is so appealing is the depth of the love between Edward and Bella. This vampire/human couple may seem like an unlikely pair, but they are drawn to each other on sight. The passion they feel for each other is immediate and rock solid. They love each other with an undying devotion - Edward is fiercely protective of Bella, and Bella is willing to put Edward's life above her own.
Another reason the series is so popular is in the magic of the world Stephenie Meyer has created for the Twilight Saga. This fantastic story has vampires and werewolves fitting so smoothly into the human world; not in hiding, but living among them in secret and interacting with them on a day to day basis. The legends and detailed background stories of both the vampires and the werewolves only add more depth and character to the already intriguing storyline.
Also, along with the beauty and magic of the story, the dangers and perils Bella faces from both the vampire and werewolf worlds are also fascinating additions to the storyline of Twilight. Of course, what good is any story without some element of mystery, danger, and suspense? Stephenie Meyer has done a fantastic job integrating these aspects into the plot of Twilight with detailed craftsmanship and the story elements flow so smoothly from one book to the next.

Have you read the Twilight Saga books?
Bella Swan is a clumsy, awkward teenage girl. She feels like she is "literally stumbling" through her life, but she is also very witty, and she does not give herself enough credit. She also puts everyone's feelings above her own. Bella enjoys music, is a good student, and is an avid reader - she especially loves the classics.
Bella is also very mature for her age. Her mother is her best friend, but she also a little flighty and hair-brained, so Bella has learned to care for herself and the household responsibilities. Bella is also introverted and shy, but she will fight for anyone she loves.
Bella moves to Forks, Washington to spend time with her dad while her mother travels with her new husband. She is nervous about starting school at Forks High in the middle of the semester and though she does not want it, she gets lots of attention just by being the new girl in school. Bella would rather keep her head down and stay out of the limelight.
Once she meets Edward, she falls in love. As she discovers more about his world, Bella is determined to become like him so that she can protect him and everyone she loves from danger.
Kristen Stewart is the star who has taken on the part of Bella for the Twilight movie series and she is truly wonderful in this role. In my opinion, no other actress could play this part as well as she does.
When you left, when he left, you took everything with you. The absence of him is everywhere I look.— Bella Swan
Edward Cullen is a 100 year old vampire who moves through life bored and unfulfilled. He enjoys classical music and collecting cars, but he is not content with his existence and seems to be waiting for something to make his "life" worth living.
Carlisle (the head of the Cullen clan) changed Edward when he was dying of Spanish influenza in 1918. As a vampire, Edward is very strong and very fast. He also has the unique ability among his kind to read minds. His physical strength and his telepathic capabilities give him strong advantages when helping to defend the Cullen clan from danger. He is very loyal and protective of his adopted family.
The Cullen's do not drink human blood, they sustain themselves on the blood of animals, but Edward had a rebellious stage where he killed human murderers. Since then, Edward has been unhappy with himself. He feels he is a monster and and that his soul is damned.
When he meets Bella Swan, her blood calls to him strongly and it takes all his control to keep from killing her. He describes her blood as his "own personal brand of heroin." Once he is able to get past the blinding lure of her blood, he becomes intrigued with her. Bella is the first human he has ever encountered that he could not read their mind. He tries to avoid Bella, but is unable to do so. He begins to spend time with her even though he is afraid she will discover his secret that he is a bloodthirsty vampire.
Robert Pattinson portrays Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies and he does a wonderful job of capturing the essence of Edward's character from the books.
I promise to love you every moment of forever.— Edward Cullen
Jacob Black is a good kid that takes care of his wheelchair bound father. He is Quileute Indian and lives on on the La Push reservation. He loves fixing up old cars and hanging out with his friends.
He also enjoys spending time with Bella Swan. He is in love with her, but knows she is dating Edward Cullen, so he doesn't pursue her at first.
He doesn't understand why his dad, Billy Black, seems to hate the Cullen's. He is forever talking about silly superstitions and "old scary stories" from the legends about the Quileute's being descended from wolves, but Jacob doesn't believe him. Until he himself transforms into a werewolf.
Now Jacob hates the Cullen's too, because, to the Quileute's, they are an enemy clan. His ancestors started a treaty with the Cullen's, but that does not mean they are to be trusted. Jacob is furious that Edward is with Bella and is determined to steal her away, for her own good.
Jacob is played by Taylor Lautner in the Twilight films. Taylor does a fantastic job bringing this character to life.
Have you ever had a secret you couldn't tell anyone? One that wasn't yours to share?— Jacob Black
Families of Bella, Edward, and Jacob
Bella Swan, is of course, the heroine of the Twilight Saga. She is a 17 year old with a maturity of someone much older.
The hero is Edward Cullen, a 100 year old vampire. The secondary hero is Jacob Black, who begins as human in the story, but later becomes a werewolf.
Charlie, the chief of police, is Bella's dad. Renee, her mother, is remarried to a minor league baseball player and is traveling with her new husband. Billy Black is Jacob's father and an elder in the Quileute tribe.
The Cullen clan are a group of vampires who choose to live together as a family. It is made up of Carlisle and Esme, who in the public view act as adoptive parents to Edward, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett.
We're a bit sensitive to blood around here. I'm sure you can understand that.— Bella Swan
The Cullen's are a "vegetarian" vampire coven - meaning they don't drink human blood. They live together as a family and protect each other from danger. They each have their own personality and skills that they bring to the table.
Carlisle is the father figure and healer, Esme is the mother and caretaker of the family. Edward can read minds and Alice can see the future so they have special abilities that allow them to protect the family from outsiders. Jasper can manipulate the emotions of those around him, so he is good at soothing tempers and outbursts in dangerous situations. Rosalie and Emmett are strong fighters and can protect the family as well.
The Cullen's each have their own individual likes and personalities, and as in every family there are disputes and squabbles, but every member of the Cullen coven would fight to the death to save their family members from harm.
I doubt any two among gods or mortals have ever seen quite so clearly.— Aro
The Volturi are the leaders of the vampire world in The Twilight Saga. The three main members of the Volturi are Aro, Marcus, and Cais. Their vampire wives, the members with special talents, and the guards also make up the Volturi. This high ranking coven of vampires make and enforce the laws for all vampires in existence all over the world. If a vampire is found to be in violation of the laws, a Volturi guard will be sent to end them.
Edward tells Bella the Voulturi are a "very old and powerful family. The closest thing my world has to royalty." Carlisle describes the Volturi as "very refined." He goes on to say that they have no regard for human life, but a respect for the arts and sciences - "and the law, above all the law." When Bella wanders about the vampire laws, Edward tells her that there are "not many, and only one is regularly enforced."
The main vampire law is to keep the existence of vampires a secret. No human should know that there are vampires in the world. If a human should spot a vampire, the vampire should kill the human quietly to keep their secret. Vampires are also not allowed to kill conspicuously. They should control themselves enough to kill without being detected by humans.
Edward chooses to go to the Volturi to end his life when he believes Bella is dead. The Volturi want to kill Bella because she knows of the existence of vampires. Alice Cullen, Edward's "sister", saves the day when she tells Aro that Bella will become a vampire soon.
Who is your favorite Cullen in The Twilight Saga?
Key Storyline Points
The Love Between Edward and Bella
What makes the love between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan so beautiful to the storyline of Twilight? Edward and Bella's love is unshakeable. No matter what happens, or what anyone says, they remain steadfast in their feelings for each other.
They also accept each other for who they are - they feel no need to change anything about the other. The passion, devotion, and level of respect between them is simply incredible.
Edward loves Bella fiercely and unconditionally, but does not understand Bella's love for him. He feels he is a monster and that he is not worthy of the love she gives so freely. How could she ever love him more than he loves her?
Bella puts Edward above herself because she is only human. How can she ever compare to such a beautiful creature? What does she have to offer someone who is so special?
Both Edward and Bella put their love for the other above themselves and they are each willing to sacrifice themselves to keep the other happy and healthy. Isn't that the kind of love and devotion we should all have for the one we want to spend the rest of our lives with?
I honestly don't know how to live without you.— Edward Cullen
The Relationship Between Bella and Jacob
Throughout the Twilight storyline, there is a definite connection between Bella Swan and Jacob Black. Bella is drawn to Jacob. She is happier when he is with her and feels like her world is complete. Bella describes Jacob as "her sun." The world is brighter with him around.
Jacob is in love with Bella and tries to convince her that he, a warm-blooded werewolf, would be better for her than a "bloodsucker." He tells her it would be "as easy as breathing" if she were with him. He tries everything he can to make her see how much he loves her and how much better she would be with him.
In New Moon, Jacob fills the void left from Edward leaving her. Bella finds him to be comforting and he takes her mind off of Edward. It almost seems like Bella will fall in love with Jacob, but then Bella finds out Edward is in trouble and rushes to be with him. In my opinion, Bella was only trying to make Jacob happy and her heart wasn't truly in love with him.
In Breaking Dawn, we finally come to understand how Bella can love both Edward and Jacob. We finally see how the relationship between Bella and Jacob affects the story.
Jake, I love you, so please don't make me choose. Cause it'll be him. It's always been him.— Bella Swan
Fan Poll - Edward or Jacob
Before Breaking Dawn was published, and before her choice in the story was known, Bella's feelings for both Edward and Jacob in The Twilight Saga sparked a huge debate from fans of which one she should choose in the story... Vampire Edward Cullen (Team Edward) or Werewolf Jacob Black (Team Jacob).
Now's your chance to have your say! Which character would you have chosen if you were in Bella's place?
Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
The Lure Bella Feels for Edward's World
From the beginning of Twilight, Bella feels strongly drawn to Edward's world. She asks him to change her, but he refuses. Edward thinks his soul is damned and he does not want the same for Bella.
Bella tells Edward that she could protect him and his family if he would change her, but remains adamant that she stay human. He feels she should experience all her human life has to offer and feels that he would be taking that away from her. He also does not want her to feel like a monster, as he does.
Throughout the storyline, Bella keeps up her appeal, even putting her fate to a vote to the entire Cullen clan. All but Rosalie and Edward are ready for Bella to join the family as a vampire.
Finally, in Eclipse, Bella explains to Edward why she wants to be like him. She tells him that she feels like she belongs in his world, because she does not fit in the human world. She tells him that she has been "literally stumbling" through her life and that she has never felt "more real" that she was with him.
Bella finally gets her wish to become a vampire in Breaking Dawn, though not in quite the way she had planned.
I've had to face death and loss and pain in your world, but I've also never felt stronger, more real.— Bella Swan

Why Twilight is a Saga
What makes the Twilight novels a saga instead of a series? A book series is a set of novels that feature one main character. Each book in the series features the same main hero or heroine, but the character is in different situations within the storyline - each book is a new story in itself. A saga is a set of books where the storyline continues from one book to another.
Twilight is a saga because the plot is one long continuous storyline about Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, but the entire storyline is too long to be written in one novel. Stephenie Meyer has broken this incredible story up into four novels about Edward and Bella and one novella featuring Bree Tanner. The novella is a short story that runs parallel to the main storyline.
Tell me, would you rather read a large storyline like this in one large novel, or do you like it being broken up into seperate novels?
Twilight (The Novel) - Book 1 of the Twilight Saga
In this first installment of The Twilight Saga, we meet Bella Swan as she moves to Forks. We follow her as she moves in with her father, starts going to Forks High School, and makes friends with a few fellow students.
We also watch as sees Edward Cullen for the first time and enters into the dangerous and intriguing world of vampires.
My Favorite Twilight Quote:
"About three things, I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how potent that part might be - that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him".
- Bella Swan

Official Twilight Movie Trailer
Twilight (The Movie)
The Twilight movie is absolutely spectacular. It features beautiful scenes and the music chosen is a great fit for Twilight. The meadow scene is breathtaking and I love the smooth, seamless way the storyline flows.
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner play Bella, Edward, and Jacob respectively and I can't think of better people to play these parts. The actors do a phenomenal job of bringing these characters, and their story, to life.
New Moon (The Novel) - Book 2 of the Twilight Saga
In New Moon, we see Bella left behind by the Cullen's in their effort to protect her from their world. Though their intentions are good, it turns into dire situation for both Bella and Edward. Also in this book, we see the relationship between Bella and Jacob grow. New Moon is an excellent part of the Twilight Saga and introduces many important plot developments in the storyline.
My Favorite Quote from New Moon:
"I knew we were both in mortal danger. Still, in that instant I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin. It was like there had never been any hole in my chest, I was perfect - not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place".
- Bella Swan
New Moon (The Novel)
New Moon finds Edward and Bella still very much in love, but after a birthday party mishap ends with Bella hurt and bleeding, Edward decides his world is too dangerous for her. The entire Cullen family moves away from Forks to keep her safe, but they do not realize her life is already in danger.
Bella, reeling and lost without Edward, sinks into a deep depression. Her loss is so great, she seems to lose touch with reality, seeing Edward in her mind when she faces a dangerous situation. She seeks out any danger she can find, just so she can see Edward - if only in her mind.
She enlists the help of her friend, Jacob Black, to help her fix up and old motorcycle. She knows the danger of riding the bike will help her see Edward again. What she doesn't expect is that being around Jacob will ease the pain of Edward being gone.
But suddenly, Jacob disappears from her life too. What would make Jacob abandon her just when she needs him the most? Bella confronts Jacob and discovers that the Quileute legends of their tribe are true. And now Jacob has his own secret.
Through a visiting nomad and through Jacob Back, Bella discovers she is in danger again. Victoria, Jame's mate, is coming for revenge. She is determined to kill Bella for the loss of her mate, but she cannot seem to find her way through the creatures that protect the area around Forks.

Official New Moon Movie Trailer
New Moon (The Movie)
New Moon is another beautiful edition to the Twilight movies. I love the werewolves in the movie and the phasing scenes are fantastic. The color usage and sound is awesome as well.
All but a few cast members from Twilight are back in New Moon, and again, the story is brought to life so well.
Eclipse (The Novel) - Book 3 of the Twilight Saga
Eclipse is an exciting and dramatic part of the Twilight Saga. We see the Cullen's and the werewolf pack working together to keep Bella safe from Victoria and her newborn army. This book also offers more insight into some of the key characters in the story. From Jasper's background to the Quileute legends, this novel gives better insight to important events and history in the Twilight storyline.
My Favorite Eclipse Quote:
"This was never a choice between you and Jacob. It was between who I should be and who I am. I've always felt out of step. Like literally stumbling through my life. I've never felt normal, because I'm not normal, and I don't wanna be. I've had to face death and loss and pain in your world, but I've also never felt stronger, more real, more myself, because it's my world too. It's where I belong".
- Bella Swan, to Edward Cullen
Eclipse (The Novel)
The Cullen's are once again living in Forks, and Edward and Bella are together again. Edward proposes to Bella and vows never to leave her again after his decision to do so before almost killed them both. Bella is determined to marry Edward and to become like him so that they will be together, and protect each other, forever.
Jacob Black is also in love with Bella and is convinced that Bella is in love with him, too. He feels Edward is using Bella and he is determined that she would be better off with him than with a bloodsucking vampire. When Jacob finds out Bella is marrying Edward he is furious. He is also outraged about Bella becoming a vampire and has decided that if Edward, or any Cullen, bites Bella he will kill him.
Victoria is still making runs into Forks trying to get to Bella, but between the Cullen's on one side and the Quileute's on the other, she has not been able to breach the town. She attacks a local boy named Riley and turns him into a vampire. She then uses Riley to gather other teens to create a newborn army of vampires. She plans to use this army to destroy the Cullen's, and Bella as well.
Things are uneasy between the Cullen family and the Quileute tribe. Their treaty is in effect, but the mistrust between them is great. Even the threat of Victoria and the newborn army is not enough for them to work together. Finally, for the sake of Bella's safety, the two groups form a plan to protect Bella and the people of Forks from the oncoming danger.
Official Eclipse Movie Trailer
Eclipse (The Movie)
Eclipse has a slightly different feel to it than Twilight and New Moon, but it is still a fantastic addition to the series. The dramatic scenes in this movie are great and we see the Cullen's and werewolves in action. I love the flashback scenes portraying the Quileute legends in this movie.
All are favorite actors are back in place in Eclipse, as well as some new ones, and they do a fabulous job of telling this story.
Breaking Dawn (The Novel) - Book 4 of the Twilight Saga
Breaking Dawn is an exciting novel for Twilight fans and it is my favorite of the collection. It is a culmination of the entire Twilight storyline. We see Bella get married and start her life with Edward. We watch as Renesemee is born and becomes a precious part of the Cullen family. We finally understand the relationship between Jacob and Bella and how he fits into her new life. And most exciting, we watch as Bella finally becomes a vampire and discovers her own unique power. What a fantastic story this is! Breaking Dawn is the perfect ending to this fascinating and intriguing saga.
Memorable Quote from Breaking Dawn:
"I was that boy would have - as soon as I discovered you were what I was looking for - gotten down on one knee and endeavored to secure your hand. I would have wanted you for eternity, even when the word didn't have quite the same connotations".
- Edward Cullen, to Bella Swan
Bella and Edward get married in a beautiful ceremony and go on their honeymoon to a tropical island. Bella wants to have a true honeymoon, in every sense of the word. Edward promises to try.
In the morning, Bella relives the wonderful night in her memories, but is brought back down to Earth when Edward asks her how bad she is hurt. Edward is determined not to touch Bella again, so she does everything in her power to attract his attention.
Bella begins having strange and vivid dreams about a child, and the Volturi coming to destroy it. She feels fiercely protective of this child, though she is not sure why. Bella thinks the dreams are why she is so tired all of a sudden, but when she starts feeling ill, she is suddenly sure the baby is real and growing inside her.
Edward is terrified that Bella will not be able to carry the child without risking her life and is determined to "get that thing out." Bella fearing for her baby, enlists the help of Rosalie. She wants the baby she carries, and, with Rosalie, takes a stand against the Cullen's. She feels she is strong enough to carry the baby to term.
Jacob is unhappy that Bella has married Bella and is determined to enforce the treaty when Edward changes her. Hearing that Bella is "ill", he thinks the treaty has been broken and rushes over to see for himself. He finds Edward and the Cullen's fearful for Bella, and fearful of the child she carries.
The werewolf pack, fearing what this child, this creature, might mean for the treaty, decide to kill Bella to eliminate the danger. Jacob breaks from the pack to protect her, and finds himself working with his sworn enemies, the Cullen's, to keep her safe.
But when Bella's life is gone, Jacob is determined that "that thing" should be destroyed. It stole Bella away from him and it deserves to die. Once he lays eyes on the baby, though, Jacob is unable to kill it. He finds that he could never hurt this beautiful creature, and that it has changed his life forever.
Bella, having nearly died during labor, goes through her torturous transformation. When she awakes, she is amazed to her baby is growing rapidly. Renesemee is beautiful, and she is happy and loved. Bella and Edward could not be happier and feel their life is complete, but their happy world is about to be shattered.
The Volturi, thinking the Cullen's have broken one of their laws, are coming to hand down their sentencing - death. The Cullen's must do everything in their power to protect their family, and this precious child.
Breaking Dawn (Part 1) Official Movie Trailer
Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (The Movie)
Breaking Dawn Part 1 is absolutely breathtaking. From the beautiful wedding, to the romantic honeymoon, to the heart-wrenching pregnancy and birthing scenes, it is hard to take your eyes off this movie.
The action is amazing as well. The vampire training scenes are cool and the real fighting action is fantastic. Seeing the vampires and werewolves working together to take out the newborn army is awesome!
Kristen Stewart goes through several transformations as Bella in this movie and she is amazing at making you believe it is real. I absolutely love this movie!
After eighteen years of being utterly ordinary, I finally found that I could shine.— Bella Swan, after her transformation
Breaking Dawn (Part 2) Official Movie Trailer
Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (The Movie)
Just as Breaking Dawn (the novel} is my favorite book in the saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2 (the movie) is my favorite film in the set. I was riveted to the screen in the theater. I have watched the movie numerous times on dvd since and I still absolutely love it! The culmination of the entire story is in this film and it was beautifully captured and brought to life.
For me, Bella's transformation ( and her struggle to get there) is the best part of the story, but it was heartbreaking to watch. Seeing her become a vampire, and also the person she was meant to be, is amazing, Seeing her finally feel comfortable in her own skin and owning her powers with confidence is awesome.
The best part of the movie is the final battle scene. In the novel, it is portrayed mostly by Bella's thoughts and the there is not a lot of action, so I wasn't sure what to expect from the movie. I was floored when the battle began. I don't want to give to much away for those that may not have seen the film, but I was riveted by the tragedy and so confused by what I was seeing on the screen? How could this be happening? How could the story have went so wrong? But it turned out to be the perfect portrayal of the scene. It could not have been better for this part of the story, It was set up so well and it went so well with the storyline.
I absolutely love this movie. It game me the same feeling of completion for the story that reading the novel did, and I can't say that about many other films based on my favorite books. I highly recommend it!
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
A Twilight Novella
After Stephenie Meyer wrote the Eclipse, she then wrote The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner novella. This Twilight novella runs parallel to Eclipse and fills in the blanks of how Victoria's newborn army was created. The story is told from the perspective of a newly created vampire named Bree Tanner. This book gives us more insight into the elements of this part of the storyline and the motives behind it, and also gives us a whole new character to love.
Bree: (wandering about Bella) "Who was this girl? Why did the vampires allow her to be with them? Why hadn't they killed her yet? Why did she seem so comfortable with them, like they didn't scare her? She seemed like she was a part of this world, and yet she didn't understand its realities. Of course Jasper was bitten. He'd just fought - and destroyed - my entire coven. Did this girl even know what we were?"
What Do You Think?
In her forward for the novella, Stephenie stated that she regretted killing off Bree's character in Eclipse and felt that she needed to share more of Bree's story.
She also said that Bree had such a strong personality and that, if she had "lived" at the end of Eclipse, she would have liked to see how Bree's character developed as a vampire.
What do you think? Would the story have been better if Bree had escaped her fate and been allowed to grow as a vampire? Cast your vote in the poll below.
Would you have liked Bree Tanner to have survived in Eclipse?
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
When Bree Tanner is kidnapped and bitten, she doesn't understand why she is so thirsty or for what purpose she has been created. She finds herself in a group of other teens that are in the same situation.
The others that have been captured with Bree seem cruel and the fighting among them is constant. The risk of being hurt by one of them is great. Bree does what she can to stay safe in this chaotic environment. But only Diego can make her feel cared for and loved.
Bree and Diego work together to make sense of the madness. They try to figure out the lies from the truth and look for ways to safely escape from Riley and his gang of bloodthirsty vampires, but will escape save them?
Riley doesn't tell them why he needs them, only that they have to be strong and stick together, because a danger is coming.

The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
This cool addition to The Twilight Saga will give you more information on the story. Stephenie Meyer has compiled a whole lot of information that we would not know just from reading the books or watching the movies in this companion to the series.
In the official guide to the Twilight Saga, fans get over 500 pages of Twilight fun. Stephenie Meyer has compiled background stories on all the Twilight characters. From vampires, to werewolves, to humans, Stephenie has profiled each character in the Twilight story, and we learn the origins and background information about the characters that is sometimes only eluded to in the novels.
Along with complete backgrounds on the characters of Twilight, this guide also offers even more. The pages are filled with quotes from the novels, genealogical charts, maps, and cross references. There is also a timeline included that includes all the important events from the entire Twilight storyline, as well as a breakdown of each novel, from Twilight to Breaking Dawn, that tics off the storyline from each book in separate points.
The guide also offers an interview with Stephenie Meyer that reveals how Twilight began, secrets from the story, and exclusive information from Stephenie's personal notes. Midnight Sun (Novel)
New Twilight Novel Coming Soon!
Midnight Sun is an upcoming Twilight novel that is Twilight (the first book in the saga) retold from Edward's point of view. I am excited to read this book, because I think it will give us more insight to the character of Edward Cullen and his feelings for Bella Swan. It will be like reading the same story with new eyes and it will fill in the blanks of what Edward was hearing from other people's minds.
This book is still a work in progress. Stephenie Meyer has been working on this novel since 2008, but an unexpected blow put it on the back burner. Someone close to the author released the first 12 chapters online without Stephenie's permission. This breach of trust had Stephenie rethinking the project, but after some thought and time, she has announced that this part of the story must be told. She has not said when Midnight Sun will be complete, but I think fans are anxiously awaiting this new addition to the Twilight Saga.
I will update this section as more information on Midnight Sun becomes available and will post the release date as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can read part of Midnight Sun online. Since it was leaked anyway, Stephenie has posted the Midnight Sun partial draft, which is a rough draft of the first 12 chapters, on her website for fans to read.
I've listed some of the great quotes from the Twilight Saga here. All quotes were taken from The Twilight Saga novels, the Twilight movies, or The Official Illustrated Guide.
Bella (in email to Alice): "When you left, when he left, you took everything with you. The absence of him is everywhere I look. It's like a huge whole has been punched through my chest. But in a way, I'm glad. The pain is the only reminder that you were real."
Sam: "Jake was right. You're good with weird."
Bella: "Don't hate the truck."
Jacob: "You're about to cross a line."
Bella: "Then don't draw one."
Emily: "So, you're the vampire girl."
Bella: "So, you're the wolf girl."
Emily: "I guess so. Well, I'm engaged to one."
Edward: "You believe I have a soul and I don't. To risk yours just for the sake of never losing you is the most selfish thing I will ever do."
Renee: "The way he watches you it's like he's willing to jump in front of you and take a bullet or something."
Bella: "Is that a bad thing?"
Renee: "It's an intense thing."
Edward: "Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment of forever. Would you do me the extraordinary honor of marrying me?"
Edward: "If we weren't natural enemies and you weren't trying to steal my reason for existing, I might actually like you."
Jacob: "If you weren't planning on sucking the life out of the girl I love, I might... No, not even then."
Bella: "I could protect you if you change me"
Edward: "You already do protect me. You are my only reason to stay alive, if that's what I am, but it is my job to protect you."
Bella: I'm not afraid of you. I'm only afraid your going to disappear.
Edward: You don't know how long I've waited for you. So, the lion fell in love with the lamb.
Bella: What a stupid lamb.
Edward: What a sick masochistic lion.
This child, Edward’s child, was a whole different story. I wanted him like I wanted air to breathe.— Bella Swan

Now you know. No one’s ever loved anyone as much as I love you.— Bella Swan, to Edward
Twilight Movie Opening Poems
I just love how the the Twilight movies feature Bella Swan saying an epigraph at the opening of each addition to the series. It just really seems to set the mood for me. Here is what Bella says at the start of each movie.
I've never given much thought to how I would die. But dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go.
- Twilight - Twilight prologue
These violent delights have violent ends,
And in their triumph die,
like fire and powder,
which as they kiss consume.
- New Moon - Lines from Romeo and Juliet, Act II Scene VI
Some say the world will end in fire,
some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire,
but if I had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
to say that for for destruction ice is also great,
and would also suffice.
- Eclipse - Robert Frost poem
Childhood is not from birth to a certain age.
The child is grown, and puts away childish things.
Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies.
- Breaking Dawn - Part 1 - Quote by Edna St. Vincent Millay

Quotes from Stephenie Meyer:
"What a world it would be if we knew that all these little legends around us are absolutely real!"
"Just to have Bella and Edward really be able to understand each other - that made it worth writing four books."
"While vampires are frightening and deadly, they are also alluring. They can be beautiful; they can be sophisticated; they have qualities that we actually aspire to: eternal youth, strength, and intelligence. The dual side of vampires makes them hard to resist."

- The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Stephenie Meyer has become popular for her famed young adult book series, the Twilight Saga, but you may not know that she is also the author The Host. In my opinion, The Host is an even better story.
