A Slap-out Funny Book by Steve Martin

Updated on December 23, 2014

Steve Martin is on the Cover

Pure Drivel is laugh out loud funny!

I do not like to fly in a plane, so when I travel by air I look for books that will take my mind off of this hair-raising and stressful process of getting from one place to another. Pure Drivel is the perfect book to do just that. Steve Martin's funny stories and essays changed my Denver to Las Vegas trip from a "flight-delayed-stuck-in-an-airport-for-hours" disaster into a "fun filled romp". I was so captivated by this small book, that I forgot myself and was laughing out loud. People around me stared. In fact, a gentleman was so intrigued by my unashamed giggles that he asked me, "what are you reading that is so funny?" Until then, I had no idea that I was becoming the envy of the disgruntled crowd waiting impatiently for the airplane to begin boarding.

Ever since that laughter filled day, I have made it a point to give Pure Drivel to anyone who needs to laugh out loud.

Suffice it to say, Steve Martin's book is the funniest book I have ever read.

It is pretty thin. Not skinny, just thin. Not thin in subject matter, just thin as in not thick. It is thick with humor, though. Not thick as in stupid, just full of it. Not "full of it" as in full of sh*t or non-sense; just jam packed full of funny writing. Yes, laugh out loud funny stuff.

Did you know that funny guy, Steve Martin writes books?

Yes, I knew all the while that he was full of talent!

No, I just thought he was a funny fella who told jokes and acted in movies and appeared on Saturday Night Live.

Here is your chance to purchase Pure Drivel by Steve Martin - Buy more than one copy of this laugh out loud book

I found "Pure Drivel" in a book store on the sale shelf. That was the happiest day of my life because I spent a long time sitting in the aisle reading and laughing out loud. I was a spectacle.

Worth every cent you spend. You must buy more than one copy so you can share the belly laughs in this hilarious book. Since it is not a new book, the price is just right for buying several copies of my choice for "the funniest book".

Funny Stuff I read in Pure Drivel that made me LOL - Yes, Mr. Martin is a comedian and an author of lots of books.

Every time I see Steve Martin I think of Pure Drivel. I also smile. Yes, the man makes me smile.

Steve Martin is a playwright, an actor, an artist and an author of fiction and non-fiction books.

If you are curious about what is so funny in "Pure Drivel", here is a partial list of the chapters in the book:

      1. Side Effects--You will learn that you might be able to drive heavy machinery and never knew it! Warning labels on medicine can reveal a lot about your talents if only you will take the time to read them. Listen to Steve Martin read this side-splitting chapter by scrolling down the page a teeny bit.
      2. Lolita at 50!--can you imagine it?
      3. Bad Dog--Is a singing dog a "Bad Dog" or a "good boy"? What FedEx brings out in Jasper.

Listen to a chapter in Pure Drivel: - "Side Effects" by funny guy Steve Martin

Please enjoy Mr. Martin reading "Side Effects", a chapter in the funny book, Pure Drivel. I love this chapter. It made me laugh out loud. Be careful, you might get whopped with an ugly stick if you are listening to this in public.

If you click, go to YouTube, you can listen to several readings from this funny book read by Mr. Martin.

A Fiction Novel by Steve Martin - Not funny, just plain imaginative!

My husband gave me this work of fiction by Mr. Martin for Christmas. He purchased it because he knows how much I love this "wild and crazy guy". He also purchased it because it is such a creative book. This book is also a mystery of sorts and I adore mysteries. It is also contains works of art, and I love art. The images of the art in this novel are a part of the story so there is a visual layer to the book. It helps to see the artwork when one is reading about the actual piece.

The story is woven around these pieces of art the way a shoelace keeps a tennis shoe on your foot. Art is the lace that ties it all together.

The actual book is a work of art, by the way.

An Object of Beauty: A Novel
An Object of Beauty: A Novel

A book that holds objects of beauty and a decent story, too. If you get the hardback copy, you will notice that even the paper cover protecting the book is beautiful to behold while you are holding it in your hands.

      Your Thoughts are Welcome Below:

I would love to know what you think of my choice for the funniest book ever! Please leave a message and try not to make it drivel.

Drivel Comments: - please don't drool with boredom on the keyboard if you are using a laptop or a pc!
