Streets of Abandon

Updated on February 24, 2012

The young girl mentioned in this is not me. But a friend. I wrote this about her. I'll never forget her.

As shadows fall and darkness consumes the city
Life on the wild side ain't so pretty
Differences of wrong and right becomes less clear
Nameless faces pass by, eyes filled with fear
Young girl wants to be a woman but she's only thirteen
Sold herself cheap and lost all her dreams
Thrown into a world of depravity and strife
No one saw how quick the streets took her life
It's was an easy slide into the cauldron of vice
Where losing is as easy as a roll of the dice
Hand in your innocence and grow up fast
Feels good for the moment but it doesn't last
In a world of no black/no white just shades of grey
The children of our streets need a light to show the way
Unconditional love is what it's all about
Got to get on our feet, help them and reach out

Moving and a shock to the system, especially if you knew the person. Kudos to you for writing about this.
