strong lullaby

Updated on December 6, 2012

This Womans Work

I can sit

I’m a strong woman

I’m a strong woman

into this chant you may feed

saying it long enough

hope drafts me into belief

cause when I’m hit

with silence

I wish I was indeed

I might talk all night saying

I’m a strong woman

I’m a strong woman

shed no water period

I’m an imposter

a poster child for sincerity

high pitched cause I want

you to believe

don’t give way to fits

although my sister may

throw rocks across your frowns

might kick your goal orientations

from upside the room

I hold my business

turn my back

that way pity

can’t be read

otherwise a secret shame

is pronounced

what little voice left

lessened and sheer

but I press as long

as can be heard

I’m a strong woman

I’m a strong woman

until the suit is worn out

and it disappears

3 women

You're very sweet epigramman. Thank you so much. I try to capture feelings about women in much of my poetry. I am happy I could tap into your feminine side. It is a plus when a man can relate. Thank you again.

I just simply adore this written work by you. In many of my pieces I try to write a woman's point of view and your words here have inspired me very much. Please check your fan mail from me. And I love Kate Bush very much and your song choice here - I remember when I first her voice back in 1978 and it was quite a moment - one of my favorite albums of all time is her debut - The Kick Inside.

Hubbravo to you for moving the woman in me - sending you warm wishes from lake erie time 7:20pm
