Tanka Collection #2

The Bashful Sun
Aw, you bashful sun,
you peek over the mountains
to watch the moon leave.
Then you raise your head slowly
And take your place in the sky.
Tanka about Writing Poetry
Write words in verses,
whether by rhymes by rhythm
or by syllables.
Cuts to the theme like a sword,
sharp, precise and to the point.
From the Wilderness
From the wilderness
we emerge into the light.
We’re bruised and battered,
hungry and thirsty…for life.
-- We will never be the same.
The Sea Steals and Gives
Placid waves ebbing,
pulling sand into its depth.
The sea robs the land.
Then throws it back on the coast.
-- Always giving and taking.

Defiant
Looming above all
even when shrouded by clouds.
The mountains are there
In all their rugged grandeur
--Unconquerable, defiant.
The Blossoming of Spring Colors
After white winters,
it is pleasing to observe
the birth of colors,
as Spring rises through cold earth
and blossoms green, gold, purple.

From Boulder to Sand
Once mighty boulders,
now reduced to grains of sand.
Nature's the culprit,
using erosion as tools
to break down its own artwork.
The River Roars
Now, listen closely
and you’ll hear within the woods,
the river, roaring!
As it races, unhindered
while making its presence known.
Standing Tall
Standing tall in fog
along coastal mountain range.
The redwood will strive,
despite an uncertain fate
in the hands of human waste.
Light in the Night Sky
Even in darkness,
of an empty and cold space,
distant stars still burn
and litter the sky with light.
Adversity still prevails.
