The Maniacal Lady Bug

This morning as I climbed in my truck I was surprised to see

A ladybug flew inside and landed on my knee

It stayed there just a moment then once again took flight

And landed on the dash beside the fuel gage on the right

It rode there quite content and it kind of seemed to me

It was watching all my gauges and my forward velocity

I thought about the movie “Bugs” and the lady bug in it

It wasn’t a lady but a male and upset if you mentioned it

But mine seemed very peaceful as it rode there on the dash

And looked as if it was watching the other cars we passed

I slowed down to a stop as the light ahead turned red

The lady bug sat motionless not even to raise its head

While we waited for the light to change an urge came over me

I threw the shifter into low and hit the car ahead of me

I heard the crunching sound of steel and breaking headlight glass

Then smiled an evil smile at the damage from the crash

Then I threw it in reverse and hit the gas again

And drove into the car behind and pushed his front end in

Then I became enthralled and put my truck back into drive

I slammed my foot down on the gas again and felt a sickening pride

Again my truck drove hard into the car ahead of me

The sound of breaking glass and metal was all I could hear or see

But the lady bug still sat there on the dash calm as it could be

And seemed quite oblivious to all the calamity

Finally the traffic light turned green and I headed off to work

And forgot the brief interlude when my imagination went berserk

I thought about the fantasy that just went through my mind

And realized the lady bug was not the peaceful docile kind

So if you’re riding in your car and a lady bug flies in

Roll down your window fast and shoe it out again

For the mental powers of ladybugs we may not comprehend

But what could happen if in your thoughts that ladybug gets in©

      haha...such a cute poem but, I agree IF a bug enters the car..we oughta roll down our windows and let them fly off or else they are a BIG

      Holy cow! At first I thought you had lost your mind hahah Then I realized that crazy ladybug (that may not have been a lady at all) sent your imagination into overdrive. Cute and fun poem Stu :)
