What I Learned from this Book

Review

I am learning how to invest in stock market and "The Neatest Little Guide to Stock Market Investing" can consider as one of the good financial books.

There are many strategies in trading system. Firstly, the author introduces the language of the stock. He explains the meaning of the technical words which you would see in the trading world, for example, current ratio, PE ratio, fundamental analysis, technical analysis and etc. This book mainly focus on Fundamental Analysis.

Then, Jason Kelly introduces six masters which including Benjamin Graham, Philip Fisher, Warren Buffet, Peter Lynch, William O'neil and Bill Miller. Thanks to Jason Kelly as he summarizes all their investment strategies so that you can save a lot of time to study each of them on how they become a successful investor.

After that, he shows the history of the market and provides convincing data to show the most effective method to analyze the stock. Besides, he shows the differences between growth and value strategy, and the data we should focus on if we want to use either value or growth strategy.

I have read few financial books and they are giving the same advice- do not fully believe "tips" from what we have seen in the newspaper, magazine or guru. We should do research ourselves before we make any trading decision as the news might be created to influence our mind and most of the time we would lose our money if we follow the "tips" without doing research ourselves.

In Chapter 7, Jason Kelly concludes all the keys measurements that we should look at before we make any trading decision. He also gives some useful strategies that I think very helpful for me.

This is definitely a MUST read book if you prefer to use fundamental analysis as your trading strategy as the author provide step by step method to guide you to a bright road. You will have much more understanding about fundamental analysis. If you prefer technical analysis, this book might not suitable to you and you may read Trading for a Living by Alexander Elder, you may read the book review if you are interested.
