the one i look to

Updated on February 26, 2011

 many years

many laughs

many cries

you always held your own.

you always put us first

and lord knows i didn't always deserve it.

with every blow

you got right back up

and took control of your life

you are who i look to

when i wonder

if it will ever get better.

because of you

i know i have it within me

to be strong

and hold on.

to hold true to who i really am

no matter what happens

or what comes my way

just knowing

your blood runs within me

is enough to keep me going.

you are my life model

you are my friend

you are my mother.

Thank you. We can do many things in life to achieve success, but true success is when our grown children still choose to look up to us. I want you to write that novel so you can be the best you I know you can be. Mom.

A beautiful poem and tribute to your mom, and to all moms. This is just beautiful. Voted up.

      Sweet wishes Rhonda

...well that's a really beautiful thought Steph - because my mum was my best friend (she passed away in 2004) and my dad too - he passed away from cancer back in 1992. I have no family left in this world - but I have good people here at the HUB - and will always have you - and adore you too!!!

wow. i cant believe the feedback im getting from this, lol. I just...i really love my mom. haha, i know that sounds silly, but i do. I wish i were more like her, but somehow i came out very different. But, maybe thats why we talk so well. my mom does more for me emotionally than in any other way. Like, if im having a hard time paying bills and stuff, she would encourage me and lift my spirits rather than just handing me money, and somehow that does more for me, because it strengthens our relationship more than a handout could. I kust love her. She really is my best friend.

wow! Such a simple yet strong poem. Beautiful! I've read it a few times and still smile throughout the whole thing thinking about my wonderful mother. I miss her and she lives just 13 miles away. I think I'm gonna go see her and dad today. Moms do so much for us don't they.

Wow! This has to be the most beautiful poem on Hubpages (including my own) :) What a lovely tribute to your mother. I would want nothing more as a mother myself. I just can't wait to read more of your hubs. This will be a real treat for me. A big thumbs up!

thank you guys. please excuse the mistakes, ill have to correct them later. i was on the phone with mom when i wrote it, and didnt want her to hear me typing, lol. i thought if i told her i was writing it, it would seem like i was trying to get attention, hahaha. we were having one of our deeper chats about her life, and her childhood and her triumphs, and she is just such a survivor to me, she really is who i look to when i feel like things can never get better. She has no idea how special she is to me.

and as for you dear zzron, i took out alot of the hubs that i wrote that did not feel like me, like the ones o wrote while trying to climb to the 100th hub mark. pretty tacky as a writer to type up a nothing hub just to fill space huh? admitted, and moving on!!! Also, the religeon hubs...yuck. no more fighting with those who i dont agree with. it just puts me in an ugly light to be so snarky, wouldnt you agree? i much prefer the "talk to the hand" approach. Then again, im a little less bitter lately. :)

Awesome.. I so needed to hear this today. It's my mom's birthday. Thank you for blessing me with this poem today. My mom passed away last summer and I'm missing her today. Your poem touched my heart.
