Are you looking for a page turner?

I enjoy reading a good thriller and this book fits the bill.

In Third Degree an extramarital love affair results in dire consequences when a husband holds his wife and children hostage. The book was one of those I just couldn't put down. The characters were very likable and I found myself pulling for one character and then there were some surprising twists and turns.

Third Degree - Greg Iles

This book takes place in a small town where everyone knows everyone. You get involved with Laurel and her lover and empathize with their situation. Her husband Warren, is a well liked local doctor, but he has been acting very standoffish with Laurel and the family. Her lover, Danny, has a special needs son who is a top priority in his life and a wife who doesn't want to be bothered. Both of these situations make you pull for things to work out between Laurel and Danny.

Then comes the twist and turns in the plot. Danny's wife won't give up custody of the son. Warren and his partner are investigated for fraud. What secret is Warren holding from his wife? Why is he keeping his wife and children hostage?

This very fast paced book is full of action and intrique!

I don't read much any more but I sure used to enjoy a mystery novel with a surprise ending. A good author can really grab your heart and hold onto it.

Wow - hard question. I have so many favorite authors in the 'thriller' genre. I usually call them 'mysteries'. Dean Koontz, Sue Grafton, Patricia Cornwell, Mariah Stewart, Dick Francis, too many to name! I like each of them for different reasons -- sometimes the theme, sometimes the characters. Good review of an interesting sounding book by Greg Iles. I'll have to get Third Degree next to read :).

Difficult to say, I mean there are so many genres. I will say Jane Austen is right up there.

I normally stay away from books about affairs, but this one sounds so intriguing and since you recommended it, I just might have to read it! Great review!

I've had a lot of favorite authors over the years... Steinbeck, Dickens, Hesse, Vonnegut, Holt, Stewart, and so many more. I'm into discovering new (to me) authors these days.

Oh my... which are my favorite authors? Is Martha Grimes a thriller writer? I love her books! I also like Stephen Kings but he doesn't really write thrillers. Oh, I like Ludlum and Clancy. Well, I don't remember all the author's names but I definitely appreciate a good thriller!

SquidAngel blessings for the third degree!
