The Bathtub is Overflowing but I Feel Drained

Updated on May 30, 2015

A book to encourage every Mom!

The Bathtub is Overflowing but I Feel Drained, How to Defeat Mommy Stress by Lysa Terkeurst is a wonderful, encouraging book for every and any mom with children from infancy to teenagers. Lysa is the founder of Proverbs 31 Ministries, a non-denominational Christian ministry that seeks to lead women into a personal relationship with Christ. Through humor and honesty, Lysa shares her own struggles and triumphs as a mom of five children. Every chapter ends with a "Refresh My Soul" devotional section that will encourage every mom in her journey as a parent. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to read more! Lysa has appeared on Oprah and is a national speaker with a unique history including overcoming an abusive background and adopting three children from Liberia. She shares tips and ideas how to defeat "mommy stress" in every chapter. This book is well worth the read!

This is the book for you Mom!

"Lysa gives moms a gut-honest yet incredibly encouraging look at motherhood. If you are weary, overwhelmed, or just want to love and enjoy your children a little bit more, this is the book for you."

--Pam Farrel, The 10 Best Decisions Every Parent Can Make

Every Mother needs Encouragment - The Bathtub is Overflowing will bless you too!

I so appreciate Lysa's encouragement. As a busy mom to seven kids, I often feel the pressure of Mommy Stress. Reading this book helped me put my parenting back into perspective and remember how blessed I truly am. God loves me and my children so much and he cares about the details in my life!

"Basically, there seems to be a continuum where mothers at one end are sporting a professionally designed graphic art masterpiece that reads, "Super Moms Are the Best and By the Way, My Kid Beat Your Kid in the Spelling Bee.... Again!" At the other end there's a ragtag-looing hand-scribbled poster that reads, "Slacker Moms Rule... and the Thought of Spending Hours Memorizing Spelling Words Makes us Naseous."
