The Awesome and Hilarious Terrye Toombs
Hi. My name is Deborah Brooks
I’m a new freelance Amateur Journalist. I am interviewing Writer Terrye Toombs August 16, 2012, at 5:00 pm Tennessee Central time.
INTERVIEW OF Writer:
Question 1: Terrye great Writer and Hub friend, first off, where are you from, and where do you live now?
Terrye: I was born in a small town called Searcy, Arkansas and was adopted when I was 4 months old. When I was 18 months old, we moved to Anchorage, Alaska for the first time. My dad was in the Air Force and stationed at Elmendorf AFB. There, my parents adopted a native Athabascane who would become my little brother. Because dad was in the military, we moved around a bit until he was lucky enough to get re-stationed at Elmendorf. We moved back November 1975. Currently, I'm living in eastern Montana.
Terrye lives 110 miles from Rosebud and passes the turn off every time she goes to Billings. It was surrounded by fire the last time they went by, this sign is between Rosebud and Miles City. She hasn’t been there, but it’s on her to do list because Custer went thru RoseBud.
Terrye, how long have you been writing?
Terrye: "Um, since I could talk. I used to stand next to the typewriter and dictate short stories to my mom. I still remember telling her the story of a little girl meeting big foot in the woods and becoming friends."
Where do you find inspiration?
Terrye: "Beats the heck out of me! Ideas just seem to pop into my head at all times of the day and night. I have woken up in the middle of the night and had to go write. I've learned to write it down or at least get an outline down so I don't forget because I have in the past. And I'm still kicking myself because I've lost them; I know the gist of the story but I can't get it back".
Question 4: Who are some of YOUR OWN FAVORITE AUTHORS?
Terrye: "Oh, you mean besides me? lol I like Terry Brooks and Dean Koontz but I'll read pretty much anyone if the story is interesting. I'm not partial or loyal. lol"
What do you love to write most about?
Terrye: "I really enjoy writing Sci-Fi and fantasy for as far back as I can remember. I think all those evenings parked next to my dad on the sofa watching Star Trek had a little impact on me. And I like it because the writer gets to make the rules. With history, you have to stick to facts, with Sci-Fi, anything goes."

Now this is way funny!!!
Terrye, I hear you are working on your book to be published can you tell us about it?
Terrye: "I could but then that wouldn't be much fun...for me! I have a rough draft of the first three chapters on hub pages but those will be getting a major re-work after I get the whole thing finished and start the editing process. The overview is: A love triangle set a couple of hundred years in the future after the world as we know it was destroyed and everyone is now living in kingdoms with mutated animals running around while a war is brewing. Just a simple little plot where the woman is the hero, the men have sarcastic attitudes and in the end, the woman gets the horse."
Lady Of the Sword
What are your favorite hubs; they could be yours and or another hubber?
Oh wow...that would be like asking to pick which of your kids you like better. Ok, if you insist: Here are some that I really enjoyed:
1. Facial Exercise | the Natural Facelift That Will Take Years off Your Face Just 10 Minutes a Day by Nell Rose
Because I love all the funny faces Nell put in it - you can't help but laugh when you read it.
2. Blessed in the Moon-Sun Lights (A Horror Short Story) by KDuBarry03
Because it is so unique and unusual.
Looking at Terrye’s pictures I down loaded this picture that is on her Facebook wall!
Observing rattlesnakes are courteous and use the sidewalks? Must be much more polite than them Texas rattlesnakes, (Miles City, Montana.)
I wouldn’t expect any less of Terrye.
Beside your book what projects are you currently working on?
Terrye: "Right now, besides the book project and HubPages, not a lot, I have a non-verbal autistic 5 year old at home and I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to writing. I write whenever.
Tell us a little bit about your writing style.
Terrye: "My writing style...um...motley is about as close as I can get, a lot like a mangy mutt you'd pick up at the animal shelter. I've taken so many different kinds of writing classes that I feel like I could write just about anything; I've worked on newspapers, as a tech writer for a sun screen manufacturing company, an environmental report ghost writer for engineers at the Corps of Engineers, a document specialist for a couple of engineering companies and always keeping notebooks of creative writing for my own enjoyment and sanity. I like to push myself to see what I can do."
Terrye, what advice do you have for other struggling authors and writers on the hub today?
Terrye: "Keep writing. If someone tells you that you suck, there is someone else out there that will like your style or what you have to say. After all, who are you writing for? Yourself or others? Most writers I know do what they do for the love of writing and are always striving to do and be better. If you feel bogged down, bored, or lost, don't give up; challenge yourself by writing in a different genre. If you typically write poetry, write a 'how to." If you normally write about comedy, try horror. It will exercise the brain and recharge you."

Question 11. Tell me about your family life?
Terrye: "Crazy hectic with a side of holy cow! My husband is a diesel mechanic working in oilfield support in Eastern Montana and only has one day off a week so we usually try to spend the day out enjoying nature or doing our weekly shopping, but it ends up being a little of both. Our son is a daddy's boy and has to have his daddy time or the world comes to a very loud, screeching stop."

Question 12: What is your favorite music? Favorite bands?
Terrye: "My favorite music is country, but I'll listen to Nickleback, Linkin Park, and 80s rock like Motley Crue, Def Lepard, Bon Jovi. My Favorite artists are Trace Adkins, Billy Currington, Josh Turner, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean, Reba, Miranda Lambert, Gretchen Wilson, Dierks Bentley, ok I think you get the idea. Lol"
