The Spider - A Poem By S

Updated on April 4, 2012

Girl all alone with no one there

Standing in the rain, no one to care

All the broken hopes and busted dreams put her there

But who would care

Then a man came riding by

A smile on his face

His friendly voice a lie

"Come into my parlor"

Said the spider to the fly

The desolate girl got into the car never to be seen again

Until she was found

Her body decomposed, stabbed and bound

She had no friends who cared or family to rely on

And who should come along when she needed a shoulder to cry on?

An unemotional monster

His lines well rehearsed

"Come into my parlor"

- S.

Pretty intense write--the work feels lean and strong to me--maybe like the spider

I thought the comparable phrase between the "Come into my parlour said the spider to the fly" and the "An unemotional monster, His lines well rehearsed" is a good one. The poem is terrific and reads well.

Thank you Scarface1300, I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. I apologize for not responding sooner, I dont have the internet where I'm living so I can only get on when I make it to the library. -S.
