Heaven's Gate

To stand upon the beach at dawn
as evening tendrils linger on...
To see the tides both ebb and flow,
is to bask in Heaven's glow.

To wander in the forest fair,
commune with all of Nature there...
To listen with ears of the heart
is to dine on Heaven's carte.

To feel within, the stir of life,
the secret touch beyond all rife,
to play a role in creation's act,
is Heaven's most affirming fact.

To look into a baby's eyes,
to kiss its tears, comfort its cries...
To hold it close unto your breast
is to Heaven's thrill, attest.

To gaze upon a morning star,
hear God's whisper, from afar...
Feel the Spirit's sweet embrace,
is to gaze on Heaven's Face.

To see His Love in your sweet smile,
to feel His Presence in your style...
To hear your heart and thus, relate,
is to stand at Heaven's Gate.

Paul, You, my friend, are on the threshold of a most amazing journey! I am thrilled for you! There is little that compares to the joy of being a grandparent! It is truly God's reward for parenthood! I say that with a huge smile...for I thought parenthood, or at least, giving birth was the greatest joy there was! Now, as a single parent who had no help, raising them little angels was no easy job, and it is no small miracle that I lived to tell about it...but, my grandson, is my reward, and one that surpasses all! He makes every single tear I ever shed over my sons, worthwhile! I am happy for you! Buckle up, Paul, you are in for the ride of your life!

Oh saddlerider! I am so glad you felt closer to Heaven's Gate, rather than Hell's!!! I would have to do a serious re-write had it not been so!!! Your verse takes me to both, and it is a journey I cherish, my friend, either way! HUGS!

Fay, thank you! This poem is my epiphany...the culmination of over a half century of agonizing struggle to find my place, and fit into it, to find my purpose and fulfill it...God is good and I am thrilled to share the ride!
