Top 5 Book Sets for Girls

Updated on June 26, 2014

Books for Girls ages 8-12

Do you have a special little girl in the 8-12 year old age group who loves to read? My granddaughter, Rachel is 9 and she loves to read. I asked her what her favorite books were and she came out with tons of books. I noticed many of them come in a series of books with the same characters. Rachel explained that when she likes a character in a book then she wants to read more books of the same character.

With this in mind, Rachel picked out her top 5 series of books to recommend on this page.

These all look like great book series for Girls. I have neighbors with 3 young girls who all love to read. I have been cleaning out getting ready for a yard sale so when they came around today with my Girl Scout Cookies, I handed them a bag of books. Hope there was something in there that they will enjoy.

Nice selection! My children are too young for these but I know these books were very popular with the kids in the library back when I was a school librarian. Captain Underpants was a huge hit with the boys, too!

My grandchild in this age-range is a boy - age 10 - but he loves the "Wimpy Kid" series as much as the 'girls' do. :)

I've only read books from two of these series. I can see why kids like the Ramona books, but I prefer the Boxcar mysteries when it comes to role models.

Wow, the Boxcar Children were popular when I was a kid, and that was a looooooong time ago! I'm glad to see kids are still reading those books.

I'd definitely purchase some of those sets for my nieces and nephews, they should read more instead of being in front of the computer!
