I Remember the Times

I want to dedicate this poem to cgetch and thank her for her words and inspiration. If you want to enjoy a hubber with a talent for the written word go to her hub.

As I flip through the old pictures of the time before

I remember the laughter, the smiles and more

It was the time of us, isn't it strange

the steamy windows, the rain, the good times they range.

In my head I think, were there ever good times ?

were you just an escape, conjured in my mind.

It stings and burns my feelings, I find.

The slow ache and burning turns my heart blood red

as it's slowly ripped apart, torn to shreds.

Although you hurt me, I still wish you the best

to get away from the memories, for me that is rest

Every fiber of me, and the deepest depths of my soul

tell me to go back no matter how cold

But I have smartened up and I remember the pain

of the hurt and the sorrow, I feel when it rains.

So as i move forward, I still look back

but I am now strong, my resolve you won't crack.

The ground has been trampled, I must leave you behind

with the ghost of the footprints, that is all you will find.

my heart is, What I lost when you left

but something i gained was my self respect.

Hi Michael, it's a great poem.

It's heart breaking when we lose the one we love so, and it takes time to move on in life. As you say, often wishing them well rather than hating them for leaving us makes it a little easier to see things from another perspective, and everything that we go through is part of our growth and learning in this life.

      I voted up and awesome.

You suffered much but it looks like you also gained a great deal. Sometimes suffering causes us to develop in ways we never expected. And as you wrote, we look back and see the pain but we move forward with renewed strength. Voted up for beauty and truth!

Christina, this was a collaberation really. Your essay, just put into my own poetic form. The pleasure is all mine. I seem to do my best work when inspired by others, I think because I aim to please.
