What have you read lately?

Updated on August 19, 2013

Learn as much as you can, and know that the future is better than you think.

So what are some of the best books of 2013, that I have read, that will not only get the creative juices flowing, but make you a better person for reading them. Well that is a big question and sentence a matter of fact, but lets break down the question into 3 categories.

- Self Motivation

- Original Thoughts

- Just Plain Good (Couldn't Think of a Third Niche ;) )

The truth is the categories don't really matter. What matters is that you take 15-20 minutes a day to enlighten yourself towards becoming the best version of yourself you can be. After all you are responsible for where you are and HOW YOU THINK PERIOD!!

I might also add that several of this books are in audio-book form. So if you have a daily commute take full advantage of it like I do and learn something that makes you think more. So no matter were you're at in life always enjoy life, learn as much as you can, and know that the future is better than you think.

Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative - by Austin Kleon

Being one of the best books that I read in 2012 says a lot about this book on its own from my perspective. I am a creative person, and I want to think that most people want to create something. I knew nothing about Austin Kleon. I am not avid poetry fan, so I did now know about any of his previous books. This book is a small book, but even easy read I found that this book had a very profound insight to any walk of life. I love this book because it makes you think.

Freedom Is Blogging in Your Underwear - by Hugh MacLeod

Since I have begun blogging on Squidoo and my own blog/ website for my business I have to say that I rely on books like this to keep me motivated and focused. This book right on when it comes to blogging, publishing, thinking, and underwear. :) No where else will you find it better layed out and stated with a few wonderfully terrifying pictures. Another book that's fast and easy to read, but will stick with you.

Grouped: How small groups of friends are the key to influence on the social web (Voices That Matter) - by Paul Adams

If your anything like me and are interested in social networks, but are not really a particular fan of facebook. This is a great book for you. The author presents the topic the future of social networks in well written and researched format with easy to understand points. If your a small business owner like me, and want to know how and why social media is growing and what it means for marketing. Read this book

Too Big to Know: Rethinking Knowledge Now That the Facts Aren't the Facts, Experts Are Everywhere, and the Smartest Person in th - by David Weinberger

A fresh new perspective of what it means to be in a world that's powered by relationships. With this insightful book, David Weinberger confirms in my mind that he is definitely one of the important thinkers I am addicted to read. If you want to understand what it means to live in a world with way too much TMI! Too Big to Know is the guide you've been looking for.

Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think - by Peter H. Diamandis, Steven Kotler

The authors bring an open mind with the addition of exhaustive research to this almost-academic book that's a direct answer to the world's most pressing concerns. Concerns such as: overpopulation, food, water, energy, education, health care and freedom. I found this book a must have for debating those who suffer from "Armageddon fatigue."
