What We Need

Updated on April 27, 2012

You aren’t where you should be now

You’re somewhere else instead

Even though your body’s here

You’re somewhere in your head

I wish for once you would talk to me

And tell me how you feel

I wish you would stop to see

That you’re lying makes me weary

You love me more than words can say

And this I know is true

But how you ask me to stay

Is simply quite confusing

The love I feel inside for you

I simply cannot change

But something that I cannot do

Is feel trapped inside a cage

I cannot smile anymore

While I sit and wait

To act as an imposter

Is something that I hate

I cannot sit and wait for things

To simply just get better

I want to take some action now

That’s why I wrote this letter

Time is what we need my love

For us to heal and grow

Time for us to face our fears

Only then we’ll know

If what we have is real

Thank you - this poem shines forth from an open heart. I hope your friend/lover/spouse hears.
