When You Need Me There

Updated on April 18, 2011

I'll Be There

When over your head a dark cloud does stray
And your world turns all gloomy and gray
Inside your heart, a burst of despair and dismay
When the weight of the world on your shoulders lay
To all of this I can only say--I’ll be there.

When there is pain that only I can see
And from its chains you just can’t break free
Surrounded by sorrow you seem destined to be
And away from this world you just want to flee
Just reach out and call to me--I’ll be there.

When one by one your loved ones die
And the fountain of love in your heart has run dry
When all you do is sit and cry
Your spirit is heavy and unable to fly
To you, I’ll never lie--I’ll be there.

When across your soul a chill does blow
When you’re down and out and feel so low
And all your good deeds of which only I know
When out of your mouth the harsh words flow
Even still, I will not go--I’ll be there.

When life gets too bad and only held with glue
And every heartbreak the whole world can view
And you’ve been betrayed by all but a few
You don’t know where to go or what to do
There’s only one thing that will remain true--I’ll be there.
