Winners-Danielle Steel

Updated on November 24, 2014

Danielle Steel is my Favorite Romance Author

I love to read all types of books and on an average month I will read four to five books from various genres. The one exception to my reading habit happened when I was working full time.

Before I retired, I worked in the tax industry for 30 years. During these years I was very busy during tax season from January to April. I would work many long hours and when I got home or to my hotel room I would want to relax with a good book. I started many books during tax season but could never concentrate enough to finish a book. I would always find my mind wandering back to a situation in one of my offices and I would finally give up and put the book down. This changed when I was first introduced to books by Danielle Steel. She is the one author I could always read even when I had many other things on my mind. Now that I'm retired I find Danielle Steel a great escape when life gets hectic.

Danielle Steel's books are a great form of escape. They are easy to read and fairly short and they transfer me to a another world. Most of her books have a heroine who is rich and or famous and have some conflict that has come into her life. Over the years I have read most of Steel's romance novels, all of which have become best sellers. She is often accused of writing "fluff", but I will have to say it is "fluff" that has gotten me through many reading blocks.

Winners: A Novel is one of Steel's latest novels. In this book Lily, a champion skier with Olympic aspirations has her life changed forever when she has a tragic accident. Danielle Steel brings you into the story and the lives of Lily and those people she encounters during her recovery. It is a compelling book and like most of Steel's books I read this book in one sitting. It is just one of those books you can't put down.

More Great Reads from Danielle Steel

Over the years I have enjoyed many Danielle Steel novels. Here are two I would recommend.

The Sins of the Mother: A Novel
The Sins of the Mother: A Novel

A novel about the choices women make..

First Sight: A Novel
First Sight: A Novel

This compelling novel takes place in the fashion industry.

Too many to mention. But the ones that comes to mind easily are Now and Forever, Fine Things and Family Album. Can't get enough of Danielle Steel's books.

I'm not much of a fiction reader, but my mother reads a ton! and she enjoys Danielle Steel books - I've seen a few of her movies (if I'm not mistaken) - wonderful review

I am not much for romance reading so I've not read anything of Steel's. I am all for "fluff" reading for enjoyment and especially when it takes your mind away from work and stress.

I'm not really into straight 'romance' novels, although I have read a few of Danielle Steel's books. My favorite genre is mystery/suspense, although a few of my favorite suspense authors (i.e., Mariah Stewart, Kay Hooper) began their careers as romance writers. Now, after reading your excellent review, I'm curious about 'Winners'.

Isn't it nice to have an author like that? One you can enjoy without it competing with tax thoughts? I haven't read one by Danielle Steel for a long time, but this sounds very good. It's going on my list! Thanks for a great review.

Any book that transports you during tax season is worth its weight in returns. If I wrote romance novels, I wouldn't want them called fluff. A book that is enjoyable has value. This is a story line that I would enjoy. Thanks for sharing your favorites with us. Always appreciated.

I am absolutely beside myself thrilled that you reviewed this book! Actually, any book by Danielle Steel. Because of the very reason you addressed, I have never read a Steel novel. Now, I know I have been the one missing out. Not only did I discover a new book here that I absolutely must read, but an author! Nothing in this romantic readers world is more awesome than discovering a "new" author, especially one with so many current releases. Thank you for the review. I know with certainly that you would not mislead me and I can trust your judgement above paid critics.
