WOODSTOCK Peace Music & Memories

Updated on November 13, 2014

Woodstock: Peace, Music & Memories - A 40th Anniversary Tribute To Woodstock 1969

Peace, Music & Memories
an exceptional retrospect book by: Brad Littleproud, Joanne Hague

There is no denying the fact that those 3 unique days changed the world. And there has been no shortage of books, newspaper and magazine articles and interviews about the summer of 69 but very, very few have written about Woodstock from the point of view of the festival attendee.

Even the photographs in these mediums depicting the festival were taken by professionals, each with just the slant that the editor wanted to show. Some just showed photos of the musicians, some specifically looked for photos of "hippies" or of festival goers being getting stoned. There was also the tons of attention drawn to the "skinny dippers" in the pond.

What ever was the agenda of the magazine or newspaper it was projected with photos and interviews backing up the opinions of corporate America.

Woodstock: Peace, Music & Memories is unlike other Woodstock tributes, Woodstock: Peace, Music & Memories contains photographs, stories and personal experiences, seen through the eyes of those who made the traffic jamming trek to be a part of the most famous "concert" experience in history, as a concert goer. In addition there are interviews and insights from performers and creators who share their personal stories and how they still feel the effect even 40 years later.

It was not just about the music, those 3 days back in '69 culminated into a experience that changed the lives of hundreds of thousands, directly and millions indirectly.

Only through these eyes can you see and feel the true Woodstock experience.

Our Woodstock - Those Who Were There & For Those Who Wished They Could Have Been There

The premier retrospective on Woodstock's 40th Anniversary

Long before Brad Littleproud and Joanne Hague started out to put together this retrospect, they were involved with preserving The Woodstock Site as Historic Preservation Activists.

(to see more in-depth info and see how much hard work that Joanne & Brad have done to help keep Woodstock true to it's roots please visit Woodstock Preservation & don't forget to sign their guest book and share your memories)

It was during this time that the idea of this book was conceived.

The first contact that I had with Brad was in March 2008. During several phone calls and emails, I was able to see the unique love and perspective Brad had for Woodstock.

You see, Brad did not attend Woodstock but felt the need to preserve its memory and to keep it as accurate as possible. Brad then went on over a year long journey contacting Woodstock attendees, performers and road crews, gathering stories, trivia and photos to make Woodstock come back to life in this outstanding recollection of the Woodstock Music and Art Festival of 1969.

Brad was able to interview hundreds of attendees, scan through countless photos and immerse himself into the Woodstock that many people had not known or seen.

This amazing book is 256 pages filled with 350 color, sepia-tone and black and white photos; interviews with performers including Carlos Santana and Mountain, as well as attendees, with a special section of Woodstock memorabilia.

With over 100 contributors you will see Woodstock like we saw it, and felt it, and how it has left a lasting impression. Discover how we found out about the festival (there was limited exposure and most was done by word of mouth) , who we brought and why, and how Woodstock has changed our lives.

Artie Kornfeld, known to everyone as Father Woodstock has written the foreward and Wavy Gravy has written the epilogue.

I am so proud to be a contributor of a few personal photographs (pages 40, 66, 144 & a recent photo on page 182 ) and memories to this awesome 40th Anniversary book - a book that has takes you back to those 3 peaceful days in history that the world will never forget.

When I received my copy of this book, I was immediately taken back with it's size and the quality of the book in general. With its low cost I was expecting thinner, smaller pages and a bit lower in the quality of the photos.

But the quality is superb and fitting for such a comprehensive retrospect. The pages are even edged in psychedelic patterns to help complete the atmosphere.

The stories and quotes are mesmerizing and answers many questions. Do you remember the couple embraced in a blanket on the front cover of the Woodstock album? Woodstock: Peace, Music and Memories catches up with them and their life today. There are even photos of Woodstock then and now side by side .

It's now part of history of who played when, but many don't know how certain performers got to play and why. And why certain songs were chosen. Heck, most don't know the true accounts of how Woodstock was put together and who was involved. Woodstock: Peace, Memories and Music gives an accurate, detailed account

of the who's and why's of Woodstock.

Woodstock: Peace, Music and Memories is a must have for the music lover, Woodstock attendee, history buff and everyone who wants to know the essence of The Woodstock Music and Art Fair of 1969.

I give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars and you will too!

attendees ...anyone have a pic of me or my pal bobby shad with our USN orange tent....erected late wed the 13th about 3/4 up the hill stage center. we had gone in search of some food and found it collasped upon our return...was said it blocked the view of the additional twenty or so thousand people who were picking their spots near the top....my polaroid swinger was stolen or traded for the jug of red mountain wine left in its spot. Anyway my buddy bob died last year ..we never stayed in touch after that little adventure...we would have been easy to spot as the both of us had Navy short hair frsh from Davisville RI Seabee base....

Fantastic lens! I just do not believe there can be enough information out for Woodstock. Woodstock is a part of our history.

I planned to go to the 1969 Woodstock Festival, but when I couldn't get time off work that Friday, heard about the traffic nightmare, and discovered Dylan was a no-show anyway, I said to heck with it. I did get there, though, five years late.

Woodstock and the music of the time was a reflection of a major shift in consciousness. It was beautiful, frightening, often confusing. But many important spiritual seeds were planted in the 60s and 70s. We're still benefiting from it.

My experience inspired me to capture the times and spiritual questing in a novel called By the Time I Got to Woodstock. It's available or order an advance, autographed copy at WoodstockNovel.com. It'll be ready to ship in 1-2 weeks. It'll be available at most online bookstores in around 30 days.

Enjoyed looking at your lens. I remember Woodstock and especially all of the great music very fondly all of these years later.

Come see my lens about how this ex-hippie exhales about the 40th anniversary of Woodstock.
