You Lucky Dog

By. A. Gagliardi

Another morning, I struggle to feel alive.

The dog snoring softly on our bedroom rug,

content and peaceful in his repose

             doesn’t rise,

as I do, stumbling in the dark

to eliminate the nights’ accumulation.

His dream continues into the warming of the day

with  mementos of  past victories

while I drag myself awake,

move soundlessly through rooms,

dig in closets, and eat alone.

Some vague fantasy plays itself out in his mind, as

I gather work paraphernalia and food

for a second meal of the day

and make my way

to the door.

Good-bye and sweet dreams,

you lucky dog.

You've got this right!! Ours kept us up half the night because she had slept the previous rainy day away and wasn't tired anymore..................

Isn't Mikko cute?! A dog's life doesn't seem so very bad to me.

Nice pics and poetry, agaglia. These are my favourite lines:

"His dream continues into the warming of the day

      with mementos of past victories

      while I drag myself awake,

      move soundlessly through rooms,

dig in closets, and eat alone."

      mythbuster,

thank you for your nice comments. Dogs do lead a "dog's life" as it were.

Casey and Miiko - my comment is for you two. :-) Do you know what a marvelous mommy you have? Give her lots of kisses and smiles. Always wag your tail when you see her walking in the door - that will show her how much you miss her when she is gone. You are both so cute and my little "Clancey" would love you. Woof!

vocalcoach, thanks for commenting on my hub. I will pass on your advice to the dogs. They do wag tails when they see people come into the house. Your clancy is what kind of dog?? Woof Woof?

Check out "Walking my Dog" It is another with photos of Casey.

Katiem2, He is a sweetie. We just found out he has cateracs and is blind in one eye. Apparently that is a genetic thing with Cocker Spaniels. He is still frisky as a puppy despite the handicap.

thanks for your wishes and comments.

Happy Holidays to you : >
