I know you're there..somewhere

One minute you're there and POOF ! you're gone....
One minute you're there and POOF ! you're gone.... | Source

Knowing you're there and we can't share....

Dementia/Alzheimers is so sad... no one really goes anywhere..

and the saddest of all is the not being able to share...

The days are passing….I sure miss your smile.

Your words of praise and comfort...

I haven’t heard in quite a while

Your touch is missed, Oh.. so much…

Words left unsaid because...

We have years yet you said...

But the years have passed and so has the time..

So without further adieu , here are my words for you...

I miss you dearly and I wish you knew...

We always cared…for each other, it really isn’t fair..

Now that we have all this time...and…the you I knew just isn't there.....

Hello unknown spy..perhaps you misunderstood.. the hub is in reference to Alzheimers/Dementia.. and the fact his mind is slipping NOT the relationship,I still love him.

I know that pain, I am so sorry you feel it as well. Beautiful poem, well versed and strong voiced. My father has Alzheimers-end stage. We accept what we must...voted up.

Voted up, awesome, and beautiful KJ. Absolutely beautiful. I can relate to this, as well as many others. It makes a poem special when you can feel that emotion. Then I read your comments and read the poem again. Now, I understand. Very deep. Such a terrible disease. My mom lost both parents within a month of one another. So sad. Powerful KJ.

Your words can only come from one who has lost a dear one like I had to part with my mother three months ago. Very well done. Thanks for relaying my thoughts. Voted up and beautiful

The hardest part of Dementia/Altzheimers is the not knowing if they are still there...sorry for your mother..

" Now that we have the time…you’re just aren’t there."

Can't find words to say it but I felt so much for this line. There must be something in it that I don't know but has touched my heart that deep. Perhaps, love and missing a beloved? But thank you kj... I'm voting up and beautiful.

OMG...Thank you all for reading and commenting on my poem..but..in looking it over the other night, I realized there were many faux pas that I never saw...I DID take " 101 " in proof reading, but evidently did not take advantage of it...hope everyone else will enjoy the poem..by the way all...

I entered this in a International poetry contest and was just notified I am a finalist..look for me in a coffee table book......YIPEEEEE!

Hello KJ. This same line... " Now that we have the time, the you I knew just isn't there"

I don't know why it keeps melting my heart. There's something in it that I simply couldn't fathom. It must be love :=) Am I becoming a poet? lol. Thank you KJ. You are wonderful and your thoughts are awesome.

Tonipet...thank you for re-commenting on my poem...I wrote it because I know there are many others out there suffering from this disorder of a loss..the physical is there but the spirit of who they were is gone or fading...sad lost of life...and not being able to correct it...

Finally got round to reading this and it was worth the wait. Oh, so awesome...'missing that smile' - once that is gone there is nothing left...smiling is one of the last familiarities to go...I have also recently written another related poem 'Wistful in Waiting' - relating to the one left behind in all this.

leni sands....great write, and yes the ones left behind now have to pick up the pieces and move forward alone...I guess as anything else the survivors are the ones that suffer....so sad....
