Review of ISI Whipped Cream Dispensers

Updated on January 4, 2012

Choosing an ISI Whipped Cream Dispenser

The world of whipped cream dispensers can get very convoluted, with so many to choose from and so many options available, half pints, pints and quarts, what does it all mean? And what one is right for me and my needs? There are many questions associated with choosing the right whip cream dispenser. We have laid out all of ISI whipped cream dispensers and the benefits over each one. We hope this outline will help you better understand which whip cream dispenser is right for you.

Different Size Dispensers

There are three different size ISI whipped cream dispensers available - Half pint, 1 Pint and 1 quart.

* Remember you make 2 to 6 times more whipped cream using a whipped cream dispenser.

Half pint = 1 cup of whipping cream (only need 1 N20 charger - a half pint dispenser will yield approximately 2.5 pints (in volume) of finished whipped cream.)

1 pint = 2 cups of whipping cream (only need 1 N20 charger - makes five pints (in volume) of finished whipped cream)

1 quart = 4 cups of whipping cream (needs 2 or 3 N20 chargers)

ISI Profi Plus whip

This is the top-of-the-line stainless steel iSi Cream Profi Model 2416 whip cream dispenser. Stainless steel body, AND now featuring a stainless steel head and solid metal charger holder, this is simply the best model iSi produces. Includes a full 2 year warranty from iSi. The Profi Whip is the same model used by most Starbucks™ world wide. In our view- one huge advantage is that the head valve is removable, therefore easier to clean and less expensive to maintain. Different then the Gourmet whip this does not come with a silicone gasket, meaning, you can not use it for hot items. If you want to use this dispenser for hot items you can purchase a silicone gasket here. Comes in 1 pint and 1 quart sizes ONLY, comes will a full 2 year warrant with ISI. Although it's made for commercial use also a popular dispenser for home use. We strongly recommend this whipped cream dispenser.

Similar to the Cream Profi, this is the iSi Gourmet Whip, designed for both hot and cold foods. Stainless steel body, this is the new generation stainless metal head and body- sold metal charger holder, with silicone gaskets and tips. The only downside to this dispenser is that you can not remove the head valve.Which is harder to keep up with the maintenance of the head. Solid dispenser besides that. Comes in 1 pint and 1 Quart ONLY. The Gourmet Whip includes a standard 2 year warranty from iSi.

The defining difference is that you need to use two chargers when you use the quart (liter) sized units. Most of the time, I make smaller amounts so the quart unit would waste chargers.

I had a thought — haven’t tried this but am sure it would work. Measure out large glass marbles or stainless steel ball bearings to displace a pint of water (that is, add them to a pint of water until the fluid reaches the quart line). Use these marbles/bearings in the unit and your quart whipper is now effectively a pint!

I bought a pint (1/2 l) unit so can’t try this but bet it would work.

I just purchased the iSi Cream Profi Whip and the iSi Gourmet Series Gasket. Am I correct that I can now safely make hot foams and espumas in the Cream Profi Whip?

      Hi Aaron,

Yes it will work. You might have to use 2 chargers because there is so much room.

Hello guys, i would like to ask a question hoping someone who have it might answer.

Does the quantity of the siphon make a different in how much volume of liquid i have to put in??

Like if i have the 1 quart siphon which can fit 4 cups of Cream,so can i just put just 1 cup of cream and 1 No2??

      Hi Ann,

The difference between each is the Easy Whip is more of a consumer home based dispenser, made from forged aluminum and with a push button. The Gourmet is a bit more sturdy, it is all stainless steel and comes with a silicone gasket which allows you to put how liquids inside it. Now technically you can use all of ISI whippers with hot liquids as long as you use a silicone gasket, which you can purchase here -

As a general rule the dispensers with levers tend to have the best lifespan all around, although some people prefer the look of the Easy Whip.

You can purchase the gourmet from our US store or our UK store.

This does't answer my question, though I wish I read this before I'd purchased my Easy-whip. I am really disappointed to see it says for whipping cream only - VERY EXPENSIVE at 80 euros. What, technically, is the difference between the easy whip and a gourmet (which I can't find anywhere) which means I can't make deserts in it?
