10 organizers that pros can't live without

Updated on August 10, 2013

Looking to organize your home? I can help!

Home organization is a skill that I'm slowly learning, and I won't say that my journey has been painless but, I will say that I've managed to declutter my home (a bit...). Similar to Pigpen in the Snoopy comics, i tend to attract dirt and clutter. Decluttering is a tough thing for me to do. I've bought (and sold) a myriad of home organization and storage tools over the years until I finally found some of the best organization tools on the market (you'll see them right here in this Squidoo article). Any or all of these home organizers would make any type A personality happy on Christmas, a birthday, Channukah, Mother's Day - you name it - these are all wonderful gift ideas.

My house was built 150 years ago so home organization is key to finding items in the small crannies carved out by previous homeowners. Although my house is large, being built centuries ago means that it was built for function only (read: I have almost no storage areas) - and that function was from the 1800s! A lot has changed in how we run our daily lives since then. And, this means that I had to get creative about organizing modern day things such as large kitchen appliances, a pantry, the back closet where I store the dog food, etc.

I recently bit the bullet and did a lot of reorganization to my home. During that time, I researched organizers that pros can't live without. I've looked and looked and know who recommends what home organizers these days. And, now, you (lucky you!) get to benefit from my hard research work on home organization. The home organizers I document below are tried and true - mostly by me. I promise you that any Amazon organizers will have 4 or 5 out of 5 stars for reviews so you don't just have to take my word for it that these are the best home organizers or storage containers on the market.

So, come with me and let's enter the world of organizers that pros can't live without.

Become a professional organizer!

There's a growing market for professional organizers as people are choosing to stay in their homes instead of moving to larger quarters. A lot of people are hiring professional organizers who have been trained and know the ins and outs of organization. If you're someone who loves to be organized, why not consider a career as a professional organizer? Here's a book that will help you make your next career decision.

Kitchen organizers

Pantry organizers work wonders

I like that these little clear organizers make it easy to find things, even on taller shelves. And, they're great for organizing cosmetics in a bathroom too. They're inexpensive so buy more than you think you need - you'll find a use for them. Trust me.

The best spice organizer of all!

I just love this spice carousel - it's on my Christmas list. In fact, I personally think that this kitchen organizer would be an excellent gift for anyone who loves cooking.

KitchenArt Pro Auto-Measure Spice Carousel, Stainless Steel Satin

This stainless steel spice carousel made by KitchenArt is not only attractive but it's very handy too. It not only holds 12 spices but it also dispenses an exact measurement without using a measuring spoon. You can also remove each spice and use the container as a shaker or you can pour directly to your food item. This spice organizer comes with 12 canisters and 55 spice labels which are preprinted. There's also additional blank spice labels so you can customize or even blend spices.

This is my new all-time favorite kitchen drawer organizer - the DrawerDecor system. DrawerDecor allows you to customize any drawer so think kitchen, vanity, desk, etc. Cut this organizer into any shape or size and add dividers as you like to hold all of your kitchen utensils.

Bamboo expandable utility drawer organizer

Got one of those junk drawers that goes on and on? At one point, I had three junk drawers in my kitchen. I've bought many drawer organizers, but I think this one is one of the nicest I've seen.

A few bonus links for you

Here's a few articles about getting organized that I thought were pretty interesting. I picked up one or two new tips from each article.

Bathroom organizers

Acrylic cosmetic organizer

I have a very very small bathroom (my house was built in 1857) so I'd be totally lost without the below cosmetic organizer for my bathroom. My vanity is very small and this organizer maximizes the space.

Another of my favorite organizers, the Lay-N-Go mat gets your cosmetics bundled up and ready to hit the road. Simply lay this cosmetic organizer out flat, add your cosmetics to the mat, pull the drawstring, and you're all ready to go.

Organize your home with these tips from videos on YouTube

I always get great ideas just by perusing YouTube and these home organizing tip videos have fueled the fire. I'm off to the store to get some great organizers after being inspired!

Organize your jewelry

I have so much jewelry that I don't wear as it's usually hidden in the back of a drawer somewhere. The jewelry organizers will stop that nonsense. Hang your necklaces, earrings and jewelry on one of these nice organizers and you'll be more apt to switch out your bling.

If you're looking for some fun and unusual USB jewelry to add to your collection, check out my article USB jewelry. This jewelry is not only fashionable but it's extremely functional too as you'll always have a USB storage drive hanging around (your neck!).

A large jewelry organizer in action

Maybe you can help me with your favorite home organizing tips - I'm always up for ideas. And, since I'm pretty much a 'leave it where I last used it' person, I need help! Please leave me comments!

I'm kind of a clutter bug, I guess. However, I'm learning to let go of things now that we live in an RV. I work on organization a lot, but I'm finding that less stuff means easier organization. That and finding things that serve more than one use, so I need only one thing instead of several.
