3 Most Powerful Handguns on Earth
Whether the zombie apocalypse has finally come, aliens have landed or the dinosaurs have come back to town, there are times when you need a handgun that has enough power to stop a tank. Below we have collected the three most powerful handguns on Earth; guns that make Dirty Harry’s Smith & Wesson Model 29 look like a water pistol. Whatever, If you are a gun owner I like to suggest you to own a gun safe to secure your handguns and to protect your family from unwanted accidents.
Smith & Wesson Model 500
The most powerful production model handgun in the world is without a doubt the Smith & Wesson Model 500. Produced by, world-famous gun manufacturers, Smith & Wesson and developed to fire the .500 S&W Magnum cartridge, the Model 500 is as a sporting revolver that can fell game as large as an elephant. If used with a Hornady 9249 cartridge, the revolver can fire said projectile at 2,075 feet per second, producing a muzzle-energy of 2,868 pounds.
What makes this gun incredible is not only its immense power, but also the fact that it is the only handgun in this list that isn’t a single-shot. Holding five rounds in the chamber, means that although it isn’t the most powerful handgun in the world, it’s probably the most preferable; after all you never know when you’ll need to take down five elephants.
Pfeifer Zeliska .600 Nitro Express
Designed as a bespoke one-off for a wealthy Swiss gentleman known as Mr. Zeliska, the Austrian-made, Pfeifer Zeliska .600 Nitro Express is possibly the world’s most powerful handgun. Weighing in at just over six kilograms (13.2 lbs), the Pfeifer Zeliska is designed to fire .600 rifle rounds at 1,950 feet per second, producing a muzzle-energy of 7,591 pounds.
Rumor has it that the intention of the gun was to design a pistol that could stop a T-Rex, should the dinosaurs ever come back; it’s safe to say, while this gun is around the dinosaurs will stay away.
WTS .50 BMG Pistol
Produced by German specialist-arms manufacturer, WTS Waffentechnik in Suhl GmbH, the .50 BMG pistol is probably the world’s most powerful ‘pistol’. Weighing in at just over seven kilograms, the WTS .50 BMG Pistol, unsurprisingly fires .50 Browning Machine-Gun rounds, at up to an incredible 3,044 feet per second. This produces a muzzle-energy of over thirteen thousand pounds, which is almost more than twice the energy created by its nearest rival, the Pfeifer Zeliska.
There is some question as to whether this can be considered a pistol at all due to its secondary grip, but as it is meant to be wielded single-handedly, it is definitely a handgun, although finding someone strong enough to take the recoil may be a challenge.
If you own any of the guns in the list, you can be sure that whatever attacks you be it beast, machine or man, you’ll be the last one standing, but as always whenever handling weapons, be safe or you’ll be sorry.
