Advantages of Using the LED GU10 Light Bulb

Updated on August 2, 2010

Due to the state of the world economy today, many people have had to tighten their belts and adjust their budgets in order to cut back on their spending. One area that a homeowner might look into is the electrical consumption in their home. Many have tried to reduce their use of electronics such as TVs, video games, and even the use of electric stoves and dryers. However, one area that may not immediately come to mind is the usage of the light bulbs in the home.

Some have changed from using incandescent to fluorescent lamps in order to lessen the use of electricity. However, many do not know that there is now a light source even more efficient than fluorescents. This is the Light Emitting Diode, also known as an LED. When many of these small lights are grouped together, they make a light bulb with many advantages over both incandescent as well as fluorescent lighting. The one most commonly used in the home setting is the LED GU10.

There are many reasons that make this lamp a good choice when replacing bulbs in one’s home. Compared to other light sources, the LED uses much less electricity, thus helping to reduce one’s electrical bill. This bulb is also much more durable than an ordinary bulb. This is due the materials used in the manufacturing process, making it much less likely to burn out, as would the standard glass types. This allows the homeowner to use it in areas that may not be ideal for more fragile types of lighting where vibration from lamming doors or loud music may be an issue. In addition, these bulbs last approximately 20 times longer than traditional bulbs. While standard lights generally need to be replaced every six months to a year, the GU10 LEDs will last up to seven years, or sixty thousand hours. An added benefit of using these lamps is their low level of heat. Unlike the incandescent bulbs, the GU10s do not produce much heat, making them much safer to use in the home setting.

Trying to cut back on one’s expenses is a difficult job, especially for today’s homeowner, but there are certain services that one cannot totally do without. These include the electricity used in illuminating the home. However, by using LED GU10 lamps instead of the standard lamps, it is now possible to lower the amount of electricity consumed by the lighting fixtures in the home. Any savings one can achieve in today’s world is a great accomplishment.
