Becky , Racoons, And A Porch

Updated on September 19, 2015

September 17, 2015

Our sweet Becky enjoys watching cars go by. Highway 51 is not far from our home, and porch. Every day I find something new to clean in order to help make our porch more appealing, and a little more convenient.

This morning I wish I would have had our camera prepared . Our little dog Candy girl was trying to get to the porch, but our cat Boo Bear had a grip on Candy's leash with his paws, and was playing with it , and holding Candy back. Candy pulled as hard as she could, but Boo had a powerful grip on her leash. She could not pull free. Candy is a small dog that we lovingly call our hound. Boo is a very large, beautiful male cat that loves to play. When Candy freed herself from Boo, she went straight underneath Joann's gown, and to visit Becky.

It is a warm morning . Our weather forecaster said today would turn hot, around ninety four degrees. Becky wanted to sit in her wheelchair by her folding table. We placed two large electric fans on the porch to help reduce the heat.

I need to buy some plywood from our hardware store to repair a few large openings in the floor. The porch is closed in, but has a lot of windows I once installed with screens so that they could be opened. It is a good porch, for my family to enjoy views of the outdoors . Every day, Becky wants to go on the porch, so we do whatever is possible to give her what she wants.

I purchased some nice folding tables. Two are very large, and two more are medium in size. The smaller ones are convenient , for us to serve outdoor meals, and refreshments on them. Two raccoons come for food every day. Becky watches them, and Candy barks at them in order to make sure they will not come close to us. There is a temptation to be more friendly with the raccoons, but they are wild so it is best to leave them alone .

We saw a large wild rabbit running across our yard. There are squirrels that run across the top of our home. Becky also watches lizards that look like miniature dinosaurs as they try to catch insects. We have a lot of birds that visit our car shed, and Pecan tree.

This morning Becky drank her large cup of coffee. I made some biscuits, and baked them. It is getting kind of hot so we want be on our porch long. We had a few cool days, and look forward to more of them in the future.

We constantly check on Becky to make sure she stays cool enough, but soon it will be best , for Joann, and Becky to come back into our house where we have air conditioners.

I always have work to do. My plan is to eventually make the porch , and air conditioned set up. Joann just finished cooking Becky some Alfredo sauce with Penne's.

I am sure our pets, and raccoons will enjoy their snacks , and our leftovers.

Dear Patty : Thank you , for visiting dear heart. Raccoons are interesting to see. Our raccoons eat on our porch every day. I am glad you were able to pet the tame ones at the zoo. You are right. Never pet the wild ones. They have razor sharp teeth.

Today it is cool, and Becky is enjoying her porch again. We thought we heard a wild turkey. I hope you enjoyed you're visit to Louisiana. GBY.

      @stars439 -

It is refreshing to hear from you with in Hub about wonderful Louisiana and your loving family and pets. We had very few animals at the Columbus Zoo until Jack Hanna took over, but we had a small cage of friendly, tame raccoons that would eat popcorn from our hands. Today, no raccoons live at the zoo and we can see wild ones nearby - we can't feed them popcorn, too dangerous with their teeth!

Becky surely has a good time watching all the wildlife at your place. Some day I hope to visit Louisiana again.

@Jackie Lynnley - I am sorry to hear your cat disappeared and hope she is well, wherever she is. May she come home safely.

Dear Jackie : I am so sorry to hear about the loss of you're cat. It is hard to lose something we love. It is impossible to replace what you have loved, however animal shelters are known , for having a large variety of cats that would love a loving home. The shelter could be the perfect place where you, and you're husband could find a cat together. Losing a pet can be a very heartbreaking event. We often give our pets so much love. God Bless You, and you're loving family.

Great to hear from you! Sounds like a lot of fun with the animals. It is nice to have a cool place to look out. Bugs have eaten me alive this summer so I look forward to weather cool enough to get rid of them and let me enjoy my time outside which I love. My cat got lost or stolen and I have been so sad about that. She is about 10 months old and my husband and I just love her so much. (It is the first cat my husband ever loved! lol) She has been gone for weeks but I still hope she will come home. I played with her every day down in the floor like a kid and am really lonely for her. Animals really are so good for us, aren't they?

Hope you get cool weather soon and much of it before you have to close up for winter!

      God bless!
