Cheap Ergonomic Office Chairs

Updated on March 2, 2010

So you're the boss? Or at the very least you wish you were. But jokes aside, let's face it, you're working a long shift, day in -- day out. You'll need an office chair that inspires power -- sure -- but you'll need to be comfortable too.

This hub is dedicated to finding office chairs (high backed, mesh, swivel e.t.c) that fit the bill, pun intended. I'll be focusing on posture, comfort, price, looks and versatility in order to find the best of all worlds.

The following selection have passed the test with flying colors, although this is ultimately a subjective opinion and obviously not all chairs are for everyone. I'll try and list cons as well as pros in an effort to contain my possible over-enthusiasm and bias.

Executive High-Back Chair (Mesh Fabric - Metal)

Mesh designs have two great advantages over leather or fabric chairs, namely, they are cheaper and  well ventilated. This ergonomic mesh high-back chair is something of a crowd favorite and a classic.

Its sleek design makes it perfect for a professional working-place environment, add to that the ergonomically designed back-rest and you have a financial and ethics winner. Other advantages include:

  • Arms are height and width adjustable
  • Offers a nylon five-star base (great stability)
  • Pneumatic seat-height adjustment
  • Back height adjustment
  • 360-degree swivel
  • Tilt and asynchronous three-lever control
The only drawback to this popular and cheap model is that the only available color is black.

Herman Miller Aeron Home Office Chair

Simply put: This chair is no joke. It is a marvel of ergonomic pioneering and design. Yet despite the innovation, this chair is made to last.

  • BRAND NEW Loaded Aluminum Herman Miller Aeron Chair Medium Size B
  • Aluminum Frame
  • PostureFit
  • Leather Arms
  • Classic Carbon Pellicle
  • Fully Loaded Aeron Chair with Fully Adjustable Arms & Forward Tilt.
  • Made largely of recycled materials, the Aeron chair is designed to last a long time, with parts that get the most wear easily replaced and recycled.
  • Full 12-Year Herman Miller Manufacturer's Warranty + Free USA Ground Shipping

The level of detail is astounding, an unfortunately only a closer look can unveil the attention to detail this chair has. The picture to the right is an example of how well made the classic carbon follicle is made.

Positive reviews have crowned this chairs existence; from (bear in mind this is the new and improved model as well!) to comparative blogs, where the Aeron simply outclasses opposition.

The bottom line revolves around how big of an investment you want to make, the price tag may be a bit steep for many, but the Aeron is worth the price if you are looking for a luxurious, lasting statue of office furniture.

Office Star Ergonomically Designed Finished Wood Knee Chair

And now for something completely different!

This ergonomically designed mahogany chair is difficult to trust unless you have tried one for yourself. The minimalistic design may make you guffaw, but it is surprising stable and comfortable. This produce features only a few features:

  • Features memory foam seat cushion
  • Mahogany finish
  • Ergonomicaly designed for maximum comfort
  • Black seat pan

While a great deal of attention is pinned on its sleek and minimalistic design, the advantages of a knee rest chair are tremendous. Knee-rests offer users correct spine alignment and posture. In the long run, correct posture will really pay off. Thankfully the new alignment is not stressful for those of us with bad posture routines, so the transition should be relatively painless.
*note* This chair is particularly useful for people who suffer from joint pain or fibromyalgia.

I hope you enjoyed my black and white run-down of my hand picked products. Let me know what you think!
