Christmas Special Bathroom Decor Suggestions for Festive Appeal

Updated on April 26, 2013

With the festive season coming to play having one’s house decked up to celebrate the season and cheer guests is indeed a must. The living room and dining room areas generally receive prime focus along with some festive touches in the bedroom and kitchen. However, giving the bathroom a miss just won’t do since it’s a room everyone uses and would look rather threadbare among such exuberant signs of festive cheer elsewhere.

Keeping it simple

Considering the fact that time is a crucial element, too elaborate touches can be given a miss, and besides, it is easier to maintain a simpler look for a longer time without worrying one may mess up the decorations. Therefore, add a few thoughtful touches of red, green and white to keep in tune with the Christmas theme. A few Christmas knickknacks like reindeer or a miniature Santa Claus should do the trick.

There are also season centric bathroom accessories like a toothbrush holder in the shape of Santa or soap dishes designed to look like gift wrapped presents. Aside from these, you can even make your own bathroom accessories or assign this as a fun holiday task for your children. An old plain chipped mug or glass can be painted with festive motifs and used to hold toothbrushes or small art pieces can be used to adorn the walls.

Target areas

In order to spare time and also have an easier to coordinate look, try having a few main focal areas instead of doing up the entire room. Areas like the basin, bath, toilet etc. are used by more people and so having some festive décor would ensure that at least it is noticed which may not be the case if you set to decorate every corner. If you want a muted look that is not too over the top then near the bath area you can place a deep red or green bathmat and in the children’s bathroom a Santa shaped one should do.

The basin is used with great frequency and so giving it a festive twist is a must. A cute hand towel with festive motifs or a bit of green or red ribbon trimming should look well. Soap dispensers can be decorated with a bit of tinsel and a small Christmas tree can add to the charm. Tree decorations like small stars and baubles can be hung beneath the basin mirror’s rim and so can a row of tiny stars. A wreath would set the holiday mood to perfection and can be hung outside and also inside the bathroom door.

Colour schemes

White thankfully is a Christmassy colour and also neutral and so complementary to many a colour scheme. Fluffy white towels near the bath can be made more attractive with a towel rail decorated with tinsel or the walls near the shower or bath can have some small decorations taped up. Red too is important and so a mix of white and red is a bathroom colour scheme that can be used even after Christmas in case you intend to paint your bathroom so. Aside from this a bit of green here and there can set the seal to a merry Christmas.
