Bedroom Decorating Tips and Ideas
The master bedroom, your bedroom; It is not only a room where you catch forty winks but a place where you relax, enjoy your solitude and even spend some quiet and romantic moments with your loved one. So, your master bedroom deserves your special attention. Here are a few bedroom decorating ideas that you might find useful.
Blue for tranquility
Create your own haven in your bedroom
Almost 90% of interior designers would advise you to go blue in your bedroom. Actually blue along with white creates a soothing effect that is ideal for your bedroom. However, having everything in the same color can become monotonous. So, we would suggest you to go for different hues of blue to break the monotony. Having different textures would help you to create a layered look.
The calming effect that blues give us comes from the association with water. When you're exposed to a lake, river or ocean our minds get a shift. We tend to relax and our quality of thought tends to change. The networks in our brain activate differently and makes us happier. The thought process suddenly changes with blue colors and often leads to us being more introspective. We get more innovative thoughts because we feel a sense of connectedness.
You can add other colors also in the bedroom to make it look classic. It could be in the form of a big plant at the corner of the room or a big table lamp in yellow or orange beside the bed – these décor items would definitely add a touch of elegance to your bedroom.
Other colors that you can use to decorate your bedroom are beige, gray and even light hues of green.
Lighting – Keep it subtle
Lighting should get special attention in your bedroom. You do not want glaring light to spoil your sleep, right? If the room receives a lot of natural light, use heavy curtains to block the source of light. Now, when it comes to curtains, we must mention that they can uplift the décor of your bedroom to a large extent.
Lighting will set the relaxation tone
Is your bedroom fully, partially or not decorated?
Drama in the bedroom? Why not?
Well, we mean you can have a décor item in the bedroom that makes it dramatic and create your own style-may be a big picture in black and white on the wall behind the bed or a big bookcase with your favorite titles. A bookcase can be a nice addition to the bedroom with its eclectic mix of colors.
I prefer to have greenery in my bedroom, albeit in an unusual form. Orchids in a big pot or a vase full of white lilies look so refreshing and yet exude tranquility that the bedroom deserves.
Use of photos and color make for a dramatic effect
Give a soft touch to your bedroom
I can’t imagine my bedroom without a rug. Yes, a soft touch below your feet when you get up in the morning feels so relaxing. So, get a rug in silk or wool for your bedroom. Get it in colors that contrast the color palette of the room and make your bedroom look resplendently serene.
You must choose bedroom decorating ideas that suit your personality. So go natural or classic or even dramatic – the way your soul wants to relax.

Over the top bedroom pictures below
I thought you might like to see some over the top bedroom decorating ideas because many of us can scale down the features used. As you can well see the first one is set in front of a massive aquarium and since most of us can't afford such a thing, you can add a smaller aquarium on a stand with fluorescent lighting to soften the room. Nothing is more relaxing that watching fish in an aquarium at night with the soft glow of the water and bubbles rippling at night.
