Dehydrator Needs Cleaning Occasionally
Cleaning the Shelves
My dehydrator has 12 shelves. Last year I used it to dehydrate Roma tomatoes. I also used it for drying some nuts.
I remembered when I opened it the other day. Yes, the spices were stuck to the shelves. They were lightly oily from the olive oil.
I brought the shelves into the kitchen, put them in the sink. Dawn dish washing soap works good on greasy dishes, so was my first choice in cleaning these shelves.
I scrubbed the one side, then flipped it over and added it to the back of the stack. Repeat. After I scrubbed them all, both sides, I got the sprayer and with the water on high heat, started to spray the dirt off them. It worked well
The shelves have a mesh screen to keep the food on the shelf. This mesh also comes clean with gentle scrubbing
Good Dehydrator
This particular dehydrator was purchased in the 1970s by my mother. She did a lot of fruit, fruit leathers. I have had it since the 1980s, and have used it for meat drying, vegetable and fruit dehydrating and crafts.
