Different Types of Garage Doors to Suite Your Needs
Many houses these days make use of sealed garages with garage doors. More and more people have seen the benefits of having garage doors which provide residents with a secure way to get into and out of their homes. Many of these doors are installed with style in mind, some with cost. Of all the garage doors available, there is quite a wide range to choose from.
Retractable doors are the most used since they are attached to the roof of the garage. They slide up and parallel to the roof when a button is pushed and thus provide a neat and tidy storage system. Canopy doors are also quite popular as they are very easy to install. They tend to be a little hard to work though, since as they open and retract, they leave a small part in the doorway.
Sectional doors like canopy doors are easy to install and rise up, slipping comfortable into the roof space of the garage. These are not considered the most secure type of doors, so many professionals advise either against installing them, or they recommend using alternate safety devices in conjunction with these doors.
Roller doors have also become a quick favourite for residents and there level panels are retracted into a ball as they move upwards. This means that they are stored neatly at the opening to the garage, though they are not all that secure. Because they need to be flexible, there is a weak spot between each panel. Side-hinging doors also make an appearance on this list and are very stylish. They retract, one to each side, leaving an opening for a car to go through. For a small driveway, this can be troublesome though, since they have no place to move once opened. However, they do have the extra added advantage of being easy to lock.
If you are considering buying a garage door, first think about the size of your driveway and the type of security you need. Also consider the amount of money you have to spend, since this will play a big part in your decision.
