Updated on November 15, 2014

Best Imitation Fireplace

In modern society, you can buy everything except time. Time is the same for all and no one can stretch the time to put it in the bank and get a good percentage.

Time for yourself - it is something that really we never have enough, and that's really pity.

However, there are many ways to gain some more time for us and to improve the quality of spending it. One of the best and perhaps simplest way to relax and enjoy is to sit by the "living fire" or an electric fireplace. Open fires calm, help to relax, increases efficiency, improves sleep, all the mentioned factors are so important for us. Perhaps there is the secret of a long and happy life.

Fireplace has always been very popular, being the personification of prosperity and success. None patrimony or estate can not be imagined without the luxury fireplace room.

For centuries, fireplaces were installed in bedrooms and living rooms. Fulfilling the function of space heating, they are an integral part of a comfortable living.

A Little History

Preservation and maintenance of fire over time improved.

As the homes expanded - from one room and one floor to a few, with fireplaces on each floor - that developed a complex system of effective chimneys and the wall near the fireplace became a major load-bearing element in the structure of house.

The rapid spread of fireplaces created a degree of comfort in homes, but the heat, especially in overcrowded wooden buildings, was associated with the concomitant risk. For instance, Great Fire of London in 1666 destroyed most of the city. But this catastrophe had positive consequences - the city was rebuilt, and the streets, mostly of stone, became broader. The new city became the capital of the world trade, depriving Antwerp this role. In New England fireplaces were huge and heated with timber that was uneconomical and wasteful. Over time they became more elegant and functional.
Wood Fireplaces dominated until the early 90's. The market share of wood fireplace stood at 73,1%. Since 1997, the leadership took gas fireplaces - 61%. Now, popularity has come to a new type: the electric fireplace!

If you have ever enjoyed the charm of the burning logs and sparks of flame in a fireplace then without it you will find the house empty. On winter Sundays you will not be puzzled by the question how to spend time. The days will turn into islands of precious time filled with reading newspapers and magazines on the soft pillows with hot chocolate in hand and other "little pleasures".

When the house is heated by a burning fireplace - this is just nostalgia and great pleasure. Modern electric fireplaces burn as brightly as the real ones, but they are very easy to use. They are cleaner and more economical than conventional fireplace and can burn as brightly as you want, so you can wake up with a moderate temperature, preserved from the last night.

Modern fireplace is convenient and easy to use

Today, traditional fireplaces in homes can be found less and less. Their place are gradually removed by more modern and convenient fireplaces – electric. They are simple to operate - for their installation no need to build a chimney and combustible materials to purchase.

Electric heater can instantly flare up and quickly fade. Due to the simplicity of handling, electros perfectly fit in the accelerated rhythm of modern life. Due to the mass of its merits electric fireplace becomes an ever-increasing popularity.

Electric Fireplace: Stylish Interior Design

Decorative electric fireplaces are ideally suited for a building of any size due to the fact that they not only simulate a wood-burning fireplaces in natural size, but also allow you to choose from a variety of suspension of the maximum island models.

Smaller fireplaces with glass walls are fastened to the wall in any part of the room and descend to the desired distance from the floor. This option is ideal for contemporary rooms in the style of "high tech": the unusual shape, provide "fire" on all sides, silver metal frame and control the intensity of flicker to turn an ordinary electric furnace in something incredible.

However, the electric fireplace can be very cleverly attuned to the most ordinary fireplace with open fire and come to any classic interior.

Let us agree, today, it is hard to imagine a refined interior without a fireplace. Do you want to set up a fireplace in your home? Still thinking what to choose? If you do not want to constantly deal with the usual soot and debris, wood, fire, and maintaining the flame, then choose the relaxation and recreation of an electric fireplace.

An extra bonus of the electric fireplace is that when choosing a model, you can focus exclusively on how to design better the interior choosing just the right size or model. If to compare electric fireplace to classical one, electric fireplaces do not require any engineering studies to ensure good setting up. In terms of design, electric fireplace also has many advantages. In particular in the choice of materials, you are almost unlimited. Since they are easy to manage, in their design can be successfully used artificial marble and wood.

If you're still have doubts, we have here other arguments: automatic regulation of temperature in the room, remote control options, and finally, the ability to bring comfort to the house with so little effort!

Great job done on researching the history of fireplaces. Electric fireplaces are definitely becoming more popular as there are many different options to choose from nowadays. Even if a person already has a traditional fireplace they can consider an electric insert for the fireplace so that they can enjoy the look of a traditional one but have the benefits of an electric one. As you point out they are a great accessory for anyone who can’t have a traditional fireplace or can’t afford one.

Springboard, I agree with you that real fireplace can't be replaced but in the appartaments it's imposible to have it.

Thank you for your nice comment!

I actually have become more fond of these electric, or even gas fired fireplaces over the years. Mainly because, as you said, they've improved dramatically in functionality, and styling. A lot of them look great in a room, and can be installed in a nearly seamless fashion.

I still believe nothing can truly replace a real fireplace, but if you're living somewhere where you don't have one, this is a very good alternative.
