Home Coffee Machines

One can now enjoy a perfect cup of espresso coffee at home to finish off a delightful meal by having an espresso coffee machine at the ready!

From simple to elaborate, espresso coffee machines come in all sizes and price ranges to suit almost any budget.

The smell of that frothy and steaming perfect cup of coffee need not be savored just after dinner.

Why not curl up with a favorite book in your most comfortable chair, kick your shoes off and let your mind delve into that storyline while sipping that espresso late morning or mid-afternoon?

Memories...

Never will I forget the day that my German girlfriend and I sat at an outdoor table in a small town in Germany with a grand cathedral as a backdrop.

We decided to enjoy a freshly prepared cup of espresso while seated in that plaza listening to the chirping birds fluttering among the trees and watching the mothers pushing their babies in their prams.

It was such a relaxing way to spend a few moments in time and it is forever frozen in my memory as a salutatory event.

Other wonderful meals shared at some great restaurants with my husband through the years have capped off many a fine evening with our cups of espresso.

My husband was the one who first introduced me to the delights of espresso many years ago and I have been a fan ever since.

He has made espresso at home for our guests and me on numerous occasions.

A nice little piece of biscotti can be a perfect accompaniment to a small frothy cup of steaming espresso for those who wish to have a little something sweet with their java.

Roasted Coffee Beans

Now that you have your home espresso machine, an important part of making a good cup of espresso coffee is securing some good espresso beans.

After all...what you put into your espresso coffee machine will only be as good as the quality of ingredients.

As you can see there are many choices of purchasing coffee online as well as going to your local supermarket where choices will be more limited in the selections offered.

You can also go to gourmet coffee stores and buy coffee beans for your home use. The choice is yours!

Many people choose to buy coffee online for the simple convenience that it provides.

Coffee Accessories

If you purchase whole bean coffee you will need a coffee grinder.

These type of coffee accessories need not be costly. If you purchase an electric coffee grinder, keep it solely for that use so that other flavorings do not get mingled in and taint your ground coffee.

We have several coffee grinders for that very reason!

An antique old fashioned hand cranked coffee bean grinder with a pull-out shelf adorns the top of our refrigerator as a decoration. You can see that image below.

Those type of grinders predated my coffee drinking years! Yes...they truly did.

I am not yet as old as Methuselah! I would have to live at least another 900 years for that! Just think of the extra years he had for drinking coffee or other libations!

Brewing Coffee

Brewing coffee for yourself or others can be one of life's simple pleasures!

While an individual cup of espresso coffee can be costly in restaurants it does not have to be so at home.

One can easily see that the wide variety of pricing makes the purchase of espresso coffee machines affordable for those who wish to make that perfect cup of espresso coffee for themselves or others in the comfort of one's own surroundings. Why not have a steaming fragrant cup of espresso today? I'm ready! Want to join me?

      Hi Audrey,

I agree that coffee is a must...at least in our home. The nice thing about making your own espresso at home is that there are a wide variety and price points as to how it is made. So one does not actually have to spend all that much to have that delightful brew at home. Certainly less expensive than ordering it out!

      Hi Au fait,

I agree that the Black Friday sales which seem to have been spread out over a longer period of time have seemed to help. Between that and people purchasing more over the Internet, the crowds seem more manageable this year. A good cup of espresso is always nice! Thanks for sharing this once again and enjoy the rest of this holiday season which is now upon us. :)

Tis the season and so I am sharing this article again. People are wondering what to give to some of their friends or relatives about now and maybe this article will help solve their problem. Or maybe it will just help them decide if they want to get one for themselves . . .

Thanksgiving went well and Black Friday wasn't as crazy as usual this year. Starting their sales at the beginning of the week and opening earlier seems to have taken the wind out of most of the craziness and that's good from my perspective. No one got trampled or shot this year because they were fighting over getting through the door first or over some piece of merchandise. Nice than sanity seems to be returning -- sort of. :)

Hope your Thanksgiving was delicious, very enjoyable, and peaceful!

      Hi Au fait,

We have the low tech kind but we do enjoy a good cup of espresso on occasion. One of our neighbors has a fancy machine that can not only make espresso but cappuccino as well, one serving at a time. Nice!

Yes, our temps are finally moderating a bit. Getting some rain in the next few days and it is welcomed.

Came back to share this great information and advice again. The holidays aren't far away anymore and the information here may even help someone decide whether this might make a good Christmas or other gift.

Hope you are well and that your temps have started to come down like ours have. They're still too high, but it's a start . . .

      Hi moonlake,

Since taking that photo of the old coffee grinder, I have disassembled it from its use in the artificial arrangement and just have the plain coffee grinder on a shelf. Nice that yours was passed on and is still in the family. They now have an instant espresso! I had to purchase it for a recipe that needed a tablespoon or two of it. So if you wish to try it for the taste, it is the next best thing to brewing it from the coffee beans. Thanks for your comment, vote and the share.

I have never had espresso not much of a coffee drinker but my husband is and he would like making it at home. We had an old coffee grinder like the one in the picture but we gave it to our niece. Voted up and shared.

      Hi Rajan,

We have one of the inexpensive stove top espresso coffee makers and it serves us well. Quite often some of our dinner guests like to end the meal with a fragrant cup of espresso. Nice way to end an evening! Thanks for your votes and the share.

I certainly feel like getting one of these cheap ones for myself. Just reading the hub reminds me of the heavenly espresso aroma. Your hub has refuelled that desire. It would be great to have it at a moment's notice.

      Voted up, interesting and useful.

      Hi SanneL,

We do not own one of those fancy espresso coffee machines but our simple stove top one does the job when needed. Our neighbors across the street have a nice machine that not only makes espresso but cappuccino as well. Maybe someday...

Thanks for your comment and vote up.

An espresso machine is a GREAT gift! A friend of mine gave me one years ago, and I used it every day. In fact, I used it so much, I wore it out! Would love to have another one--maybe for Christmas. I'll have to give someone a subtle hint. Great hub!

      Hi Sally's Trove,

Yes...like you we have the old stove top Bialetti espresso pot which still works well. It is nice to know about all of these newer versions.

I like your recipe! Want company? :-)

What a great review of what's on the market today for making the perfect cup of espresso coffee at home.

I'm a bit of a dinosaur here with my old stove top Bialetti-type aluminum pot (maybe like yours?). In fact, I have two of them, one for me and one for company. I've had these precious pots for decades.

Once the espresso is done, I wipe the rim of an espresso cup with lemon rind, add a dash of sambuca to the coffee, and, OMG, off to the best of times.

Thanks for a great review and also a wonderful trip back in time.

      Hi Billy,

Coffee houses have been around for a time but as you said, Starbucks really exploded the coffee scene in America as far as a gathering place to socialize and sip some espresso or other type of coffee. Many people use those venues to meet and do business.

Peggy coffee has become a great social outlet - I guess it always has been in Europe but certainly exploded in America - I guess Starbucks has much to do with it.

      Hi dahoglund,

Interesting that the Wisconsin Rapids library has a coffee shop inside. Many of the big chain bookstores down here have Starbucks in them. One can order a variety of different types of coffee...espresso being just one of them. Thanks for your interesting comment.

Espresso has changed it's statue since the 1960's. I never went to coffee houses much but there ws one in the Minneapolis University shopping area called "Dinky Town" in Minneapolis. It was interesting and hippy. It was a bit beore bob Dulan started hanging around there. The folk music crowd tended to hang out there to. Now we have a coffee shop in the Wisconsin Rapids Library--The librarian dates back to that era. The expresso was powerful strong coffee, I'll say that.Usually I like plain old fashion coffee made at home.

      Hi eagle eyed Candie!

I purposely put an "x" in one "expresso" as many searches are done that way in lieu of the "s." Also put it in some of the keywords. You caught it! Smart lady! We have a basic stove top espresso maker that we have also had for years but after writing this and seeing prices...may have to upgrade sometime. We do have several coffee grinders for just the reasons you listed. Can't mess up that coffee! :-)

Peggy! My all-time, favorite beverage is espresso! Fab! I don't know anyone up here who doesn't have their own maker - fancy or basic. I have a basic Krups that has been with me for years! I chucked.. you spelled it with an 'x'! It's surprising how many people do that (you did it only once, however!).. Love this hub! Thank you! Oh.. and biscotti - the absolute B.E.S.T. with this coffee!

Just as a side note.. coffee grinders make great herb/spice grinders/mixers - and a lot of people have more than one just for that reason!
