Finding the perfect shabby chic furniture...and accessories - part 2
The Perfect Wall Decorations...
To continue the shabby chic look and to bring in some extra colour to the room, its key to find the right decorations for you. Floral decorations works well in any shabby chic style room, and bunting is a lovely way to do that - it creates a homely, country vibe and also it is very British.
Adding love heart accessories will also help to create the cottage and cute interior you are looking for, there are lots of items out in the market in this style, may it be door pegs, picture frames, wall hangings or candles - this design is a must have for shabby chic lovers.
Wall decorations work well against a plain coloured wall, when decorating a room in this style, introducing a single wall decorated in a patterned wallpaper is always good and supporting the remaining plain walls with wall hangings such as the images to the right.
The Perfect Vintage Accessorie
A perfect accessory for a French inspired room would be a folding screen, the one to the right is large folding screen in a distressed light wood, again this would look lovely standing in front of the feature wall paper wall in the room. A nice touch to add to this screen would be to twine fairy lights around the top, bringing in some feminine lighting in the evenings.
Adding personal touches...
When finishing off your shabby chic inspired room, buying a variety of different size and colour, vintage photo frames is always lovely. Buying scrolled and detailed frames brings elegance to your room and also lets you show off your favourite photos. A gorgeous way to display vintage photo frames would to have a feature wall designated to displaying all your photos.
Floral storage boxes look lovely on book shelves, desks and bedside tables - it always brings in a very vintage look into the room and are perfect for holding delicate and important items.
Finding a detailed and elegant mirror will be an excellent way to finish off the bedroom, a standing mirror or a wall hanging mirror would work in this style room - a distressed, white wooden mirror would be great for this type of style of room.
My shabby chic accessories - University bedroom
When moving to university, I couldn't change the wallpaper, wall colours, carpet or curtains so I had to focus on the accessories in order to create the style of room I wanted. I used floral bunting, fairylights and love heart accessories to create my shabby chic vibe. I had at least 10 photo frames scattered around the room and personal accessories such as my floral 'K' to give it my own personal finish.
