Updated on July 2, 2013

Leaded glass is not reserved just for the Victorian home. Yes, leaded glass originated in the Victorian era but that doesn't mean we must retain leaded glass ONLY in vintage homes. Combining the best of the best, exquisite artwork such as leaded glass with modern conveniences is a great way to make a box of a house into a home. Oh, buy you lament that there isn't anything that fits your personality, your style. This is where we can help. Journey with us and see a variety of different designs and then stay tune and see the vintage artwork of leaded glass added into the modern day home. See firsthand the gigantic 21st bathrooms with this beautiful glass artwork.

Adding the Richness and Texture and Sometimes Color of Leaded Glass

Combining the waves of frosted glass, colored glass can add style and grace to any home, especially a modern home. A home is just a box unless you make it yours exclusively. What easier way to do this than with adding a couple of pieces of leaded glass to kitchen cabinet fronts or above a window in the bathroom or best yet in the transom alcove of a sun room.

Color or No Color This Is The Question

The first question should be what is your style? Do you love color in your leaded glass or are you like me and prefer the classic clear with some bevels perhaps some gems to catch the light.

The second question is how formal do you prefer your leaded glass.

And perhaps the most important question of all, where would you like a piece of artwork on your window? Kitchen? Bathroom? Dining room?

Leaded Glass Can Be New - Take it Beyond Vintage and Antique

Leaded glass is no longer reserved just for antique and vintage, even new leaded glass can mimic many of the classic Victorian styles. One of my personal favorites is the beveled clear glass. This is what we have on our home on the front door and in two small windows. These small details add a tremendous amount of charm to our vintage home. Yet even a modern home can benefit from brand new leaded glass.

The leaded glass doesn't have to be permanent, it can be movable so that when you do decide to move, you can take your beloved leaded glass window with you.

      Hi MariaMontgomery,

You are absolutely correct, the windows are beautiful but demand a perfect spot for display.

I have and continue to consider this option for one of our bathrooms but alas the construction dust has not yet settled.

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing.

      Alocsin,

I believe the moisture control with the bathroom fan would take care of the wood surround and the leaded glass. Water will damage most anything so that fan with an external exhaust is critical.

Interestingly, our 1956 windows act like a natural fan. Our bathroom did not steam up until I put up the plastic film insulation. After the plastic film was placed on the windows after every shower the bathroom fan had to run to remove the moist air and clear the bathroom mirror.

Important point that you shared - thank you!

This is quite a beautiful addition to the home. I'm assuming that wat in the bathroom won't damage the leaded glass? Voting this Up and Beautiful.
