Homemade remedies to unblock clogged drains.

Updated on May 12, 2012

Block drains, sinks and toilets every one faces these problems in their lives and sometimes when the problem occurs you have no money to call the plumber to come or you need something that will work before the house floods with unpleasant smells. Below are remedies that have been tried, tested, and really worked.

Remedy One:

1 cup of baking soda

¼ of cream of tartar

1 cup of salt

Boiling water

Mix the dry ingredients baking soda, cream of tartar and salt and then pour down the drain followed by 2 cups of hot water and leave for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, run water down the drain and this mixture is enough to unblock all drains in the house.

Remedy Two

1/4 of baking soda

½ cup of vinegar

Pour the baking soda down the drain first followed by the vinegar make sure you close the drain quickly as the baking soda and vinegar will cause a chemical reaction foam like reaction and then leave for 10 minutes and then pour hot water down the drain.

Like they say that prevention is better than cure so the above mentioned methods of unclogging of blocked drains, sinks and toilet should be used to maintain the house like maybe once a month or every 3 months to avoid grease and scum buildup in the drains

I never thought of using such items for unblocking the drain! Previously, I thought that constant brushing of the drain was the only ultimate way!
