House Drawing Plans for Modest But Elegant Small Home Designs

Updated on May 18, 2017

Sourcing for house drawing plans on-line has become a less expensive option for people planning to build affordable homes without having to expend thousands of dollars.

They will rather find ways to save on the exorbitant costs of employing the services of architects, structural engineers, etc. (especially small home designs), for producing blueprints of house drawing plans.

With the recession and downturn of government economies world over, many have become more realistic about finding ways to save money in all aspects of their lives. And finding ways to get affordable and smaller home designs is not an exception.

Many have been trying to sell off their large homes for more compact small home designs, but there aren't many buyers out there remotely interested in getting big or overstated homes.

Enough are not buying, and the real estate industry feels the pinch because, in the not too distant past, those looking out to buy large and luxurious homes were the 'toast' of real estate agents.

How to Find Smaller Homes Drawing Plans On-line

Homeowners with large homes suddenly woke up to realise they didn’t need so much space after all. Small home designs became the preferred option resulting in the demand for house drawing plans on-line which costs much less than getting them done off-line.

The on-line demand for building design blueprints of smaller homes has increased considerably over the past few years.

Why Modest Home Designs are the Preferred Choice

Many new and experienced home seekers, especially first time home buyers, want smaller homes because of qualities that were never really considered decades ago.

And contrary to the belief in some quarters, having a smaller house does not mean that dreams of a beautiful home cannot be imagined. Even small home designs can fit into our big dreams.

Now they clamor for house drawing plans with designs that are smaller because it is now accepted that small home designs are:

  • Cost efficient. It saves so much money building smaller homes, the plot is smaller and the house drawing plans will cost much less.
  • Energy efficient, much more than larger homes.
  • Compact and can be made to have a cozy or minimalist theme successfully.
  • Smarter.
  • Tailored to fit. No one really needs any home space that is larger than is required by the whole family, even including a guest.

Advantages

One of the advantages of owning smaller homes is the coziness that such homes afford the owner. There was a time when we wanted dining rooms instead of dining areas, a study instead of a working or studying corner, a dressing room as against a walk-through closet.

These formal spaces which was much desired in the past are now almost undesirable by many who have experienced the bad slump in the real estate industry.

And even though there are those who still opt for luxury homes who obviously can more than afford it, the majority of homeowners, now prefer to own smaller, but beautiful homes.

What to Look Out For

When seeking house drawing plans for small home designs, seekers must remember to choose designs that have the interior spaces planned to function in a flexible manner.

A small home must communicate a sense of warmth and intimacy and because it's a smaller home, there must be a regard for meaningful interior details.

WHAT SIZE OF HOMES DO YOU THINK IS GAINING POPULARITY?

See results

This will be achieved by investing in and incorporating good quality materials with beautiful artful touches. The money saved from building a small instead of a large house will go well into finishing and furnishing the new home to almost perfect detail.

Successful house drawing plans must materialize into smart homes with open interior spaces that flow nicely into each other.

The household 'hotspots' must be in good proximity to important and essential areas, for example, the kitchen may have a counter that will serve as a breakfast counter, preparation space or a serving buffet table.

Or it may serve to visually separate that 'hotspot' from a dining or living area. A house plan designed with a niche set off a bay area or under the staircase - if it’s a storey building - can serve as a study or reading area.

House drawing plans for small homes must show an introduction of the outdoors into the interior.

The addition of a set of beautiful doors that leads to the porch will introduce attractive possibilities for outdoor entertaining or dining. In small home designs, the judicious placement of porches and balconies is a great way to add both character and area to the new home.

Putting Your Savings to Work

Purchasing house drawing plans on-line affords the opportunity to put to work what is saved by not hiring local architects and building small. There will be extra funds saved by purchasing drawing plans on-line.

These savings can be used judiciously to create a dream interior which can be achieved by a creative homeowner or by employing the services of a professional interior decorator.

Hiring these services will be affordable, and an interior designer or decorator will have a great time designing the interior of medium to small homes.

Working from the house drawing plans already purchased, they will do a great job at letting your home communicate a sense of intimacy and regard for meaningful details, as a smaller home should feel snug, not cramped.

They can creatively work out a space-saving strategy to forgo formal spaces. This will be a fun challenging balance for designers to attain.

Whether planning to purchase house drawing plans for the building of a primary residence, a log cabin, or a vacation home, people will be amazed at how smaller than average home designs will fit just perfectly into budgets, and at the same time turn out the dream home desired.

      Hello Kohli,

After an initial course in interior design, in your own case, after your diploma, there are a number of options that can help you decide on an area of specialisation which will definitely make you stand out.

Here are some areas you can take short courses on (on-line or on campus), and specialise as:

      Stage set designers

Lighting design and lighting effects experts

      3D Computer rendering services

      Space planning consultants

Furniture designers and custom furniture producers

Specialists in kitchen and bathroom designs

      Residential interior designers

      Commercial interior designers

      Exhibit designers

Hope this helps Kohli, and thanks for the visit.

Best of luck in your future endeavours.

I have just interviewed the owner of a local reprographics shop, whose main business is copying blueprints. I am working on a series of Hubs about the trends in reprographics (and what I think is most interesting, some history of the blueprinting process). So your hubs about trends in actual building are interesting to me, and I am going to follow you.

TheNorwegian, thanks for the visit. The house drawing plans come with the complete blueprints, including all the necessary structural drawings, that are an essential part of the building design plans.

A set of complete blueprints always comes with the necessary detailed drawings, including electrical drawings, mechanical, structural etc.

Without that, a building cannot be erected safely nor successfully.

      Cheers.

Thanks for the info he. Great I guess, for many.

      But have a question.

If people use this way to get their new homes drawn, what about the detailed drawings ?

Thinking about walls, roof, the building construction with all their forces....designed to keep the building standing ?

And for the record, asking as a profesionally carpenter.

Who is into building of houses and cabins mostly.

Thanks for the complement akirchner and for visiting.

Multiple levels are quite nice and great for exercise, in that you can go up and down many times throughout the day, but because of its large square footage, we accumulate more stuff to fill it up.

Goodluck if you decide to downsize. I'm almost regretting the size of our house myself. As i'm getting older, i realise that i require less space. Trying to 'de-clutter' nowadays.

      Glad you enjoyed this.

      Cheers

Definitely another wonderful hub and thanks for sharing it with us. I want to downsize one more time I think although our square footage is good but the multiple levels is really hard and I need more yard than house to do all I want to do. Good things to think about but the thing I always think about now is....how the heck am I gonna clean this thing? Oy vey - it's all about time management but sometimes it just seems the more you have, the more time you have to spend to keep it all up!

Hi Habee, how is it going? They say the sales of the house drawing plans for smaller pert homes is on the rise.

You are right. The economic crunch is the reason, but maybe its good to downsize if and when the need arises.

Life is getting tough and tougher these days.

      Thanks for visiting habee.

      Cheers

Great info here! I'm sure many people will be downsizing because of the present economy.
