Speed Cleaning The House

Speed cleaning is a quick option before company gets to the house.

How To Speed Clean

Okay, the phone just rang and people are coming over in about a half hour and your house is a wreck. Here is some helpful things you can do quickly, although after they leave, you do need to find out where you threw everything, but it's a quick fix!

First of all, I don't want you to think this is the way to clean your house at all. My husband and son do most of the cleaning since I'm unable, but this is the way we found out how to do things when that unexpected call comes that people are coming over in a couple hours and the house isn't quite that clean for those who really care.

One thing to always remember: when people drop by unexpectedly or decide to call when they are in town and want to drop by, you really need to consider the fact that they are not there to see your house. They wanted to stop by and see You-Not your house. Some people's house looks lived in, while others need to be on hoarders or have their house condemned. There are others who has to have their home immaculate. It really doesn't matter how you live, to me; it's your home that you bought and it represents who you are as a person.

Tips To Clean Up Quick

Take one deep breath and don't panic. There are things you can do to save your butt. The first thing to do is grab those dusty porcelain collectibles that have been sitting on your kitchen shelf, living room or bathroom (even the toothbrush holder) and anything else you can find that needs to be cleaned real quick that can get wet without ruining and load your dishwasher up with them all at once. Use just a few drops of detergent, and put them on the quick cycle or if they aren't that dusty, just put them on the rinse cycle. You would be amazed at how quickly they become not so dusty looking and then put them back where they belong. If you set them out on a dish towel after they wash, they usually dry within a half hour, unless you have time to dry each one off. I don't recommend putting anything in their that may ruin or has paint on them.

Laundry Piled Up

If you have laundry piled up in the bedroom and that's where your guests are going to put their coats, then hurry up and throw some laundry in the washing machine and fill up your hamper and put it in your closet. Make your bed and do a quick light dusting by running a very lightly damp paper towel on your dresser, night tables, tv, etc. Do the same in your living room.

Skim Vacuum

Grab the vacuum cleaner and quickly run over the high traffic areas or if you have dogs, like I do, vacuum in the most collectible spots. If you need to sweep your kitchen floor, instead of grabbing the broom, just use your vacuum and utilize the extension to get in the corners of the floor if you need to. Tip: Also, if you have any Rug Deodorizer, thrash some around when they pull in the driveway. You would be amazed how it makes your house smell clean for at least an hour. They would think you were cleaning all day.

Dirty Dishes

If you have a sink full of dishes and don't have a dishwasher, I suggest you do them quickly. If it's company that's coming down the street when they call, you can always put the dishes in a big tub or something and hide the tub somewhere. If you have an empty oven, I suggest you utilize it with the pans that are dirty in the sink or left on the stove from earlier. There are ways, you just have to use your imagination. We don't live like this, I just thought of that because some people don't have dishwashers!

Sturdy Little Tikes Toy Chest

Have young children that have toys everywhere? Don't have enough time to put the toys where they belong? Grab a tub or a box, and throw em' in. At least you tried and it should pass inspection to mother-in-laws or mothers who are nitpicky.

Bills and Mail

If you are going through your bills or mail and it is spread all over the table, pile them up if they were in order, put them in a stack and find a box to put them into.

Then, after everyone leaves, you can take a big deep breath because now you need to go find everything you hid in a hurry.

Thanks for reading and be sure to comment if you would like to add any suggestions.
