Updated on July 15, 2014

Grandfathers Clocks To Adorn Your Home or Office

Howard Miller grandfather clocks are noted for being built with care resulting in a quality product, lasting generations. Unique in design, with great attention to fine details, these attractive grandfather clocks will be the center of attention in any room or area you choose to adorn in your home or business.

His company, as known to day as the Howard Miller Total Home company, was founded in 1926 by Howard C. Miller at the young age of 21. Even at this young age, Howard Miller was focused on creating a line of products that would be steeped in value as well as quality.

Howard Miller's schooling in this art of fine clockmaking was provided by his father, Herman. The schooling took place in Germany, the Black Forest region.

In the early years the focus of manufacturing was on mantel clocks and chiming wall clocks. Also produced were a trend-setting line of avant garde clocks that are featured today throughout the world in various collectors' galleries.

As with most companies during World War II, the company joined with another company to produce goods for the war effort. In this case, the Howard Miller Total Home company sistered with the Ford Motor Company to produce anti-aircraft covers.

In the 1960s, attention was focused on giving its main attention to the creation and manufacturing of grandfather clocks built to be long lasting and great attention to detail being given. This turn in manufacturing and the success of this endeavor has earned the company the title of "World's Larges Grandfather Clock Manufacturer."

The year of 1989 found Howard Miller expanding his line of products to include collectors cabinets with the same intricate attention given to detail and producing a high quality product. As with the grandfather clocks, these cabinets were created and fashioned from quality hardwoods and glass. Throughout the world these cabinets can be found displaying collectibles, glassware, heirlooms, plates and more.

The expansion to include other quality products has continued over the years with the acquisition of three additional companies: The Hekman Furniture Company, which focuses on the creation furnishings that are carefully sculpted from hardwoods as well as more modern pieces with the construction stemming from exotic woods and fine metals. The Woodmark Company manufactures quality pieces of upholstered furniture of various styles. The Kieninger Company of Germany which provide the exquisite movement in the clocks produced by Howard Miller Total Home company, made by Old World craftsmen.

The Howard Miller Total Home company is committed to providing its customers with only the finest in handcrafted products created with love and attention to detail that is world known for any products manufactured under this company name.

Howard Miller passed in 1995, but the legacy continues with pride, quality manufacturing and attention to detail in the manufacturing of all items including the most popular, the grandfather clocks.

Any body looking for grandfathered clocks I'd suggest ebay (from a power seller) or Kijiji... just make sure you see it before purchasing. I tried purchasing one brand new and it did not work out, just my 2 cents!
