Ideas for Creating a Warm Color Garden Using a Solar Water Fountain

It's time to start thinking about sprucing up the garden, or creating an entirely new one! There are numerous perennials, shrubs and plants to consider when designing a garden. This hub will focus on ideas for a full sun garden and tying in the perfect solar water fountain to coordinate with your plant choices. Using the simple color wheel, warm colors are the reds, oranges and yellows. When we look at these colors, they tend to stand out, energize us, and draw in our attention. Using warmer colors can make a larger space seem smaller and more intimate. Ideas mentioned here are not comprehensive. Most plants discussed here are hardy, lower maintenance options.

Deep Orange

A beautiful perennial to line the border of your sun garden is the Sundown Coneflower. This flower thrives in Zones 4-9, the deep orange blooms keep coming all summer long. It grows to be about 32-40 inches high.







Orange Butterfly Plant blooms June through July and grows to be 24-36 inches tall. It does well in Zones 4-8. Attracts many butterflies!

Scarlet Red

Jacob Cline Monarda, or Bee Balm, is an easy to grow perennial. It is also a good option for the border of your sun garden, as it can grow to 35-47 inches tall. Its scarlet red blooms are evident from mid summer until Fall. It grows best in Zones 3-9.







Arizona Red Shades Blanket Flower flourishes in Zones 3-10. The beautiful, bright 4 inch flowers bloom all summer long and grow to be 10-12 inches tall.

Bold Yellow

Black-eyed Susans are attractive, yellow flowers with a purple brown center. They are easy to grow and are competitive for garden space. They are a biennial plant, so live for two years. They grow to about 3 feet tall and bloom from June to October.





Stella de Oro Daylily is a trusty all summer bloomer. The beautiful golden yellow flowers grow 17-24 inches tall. It is happiest in Zones 3-9.

Goblin Blanket Flower produces yellow edged scarlet blooms that grow to 12-15 inches in height. They are perfect for Zones 4-8 and bloom all summer long.

Dwarf Double Persimmon Daylily is a Paprika colored flower with red veins. They bloom all summer season and climb to 24 inches tall. They are best in Zones 3-9.

Cosmic Eye Coreopsis grows 12-15 inches tall. It blooms June to September and is happiest in Zones 5-9. The red blooms have yellow edges.
