In Love With a Sofa Bed

Usually I couldn't give two hoots about a piece of furniture, and I'd never claim to be in love with an inanimate object. (What craziness!).

But recently I'm finding myself slightly obsessed with a sofa bed.

It's very beautiful. It looks like a simple, modern sofa, but when you click the back forwards slightly, it folds down into a simple bed. I love the simplicity and the clean-cut style.

If you look at the link to the right you'll see exactly what I mean.

Isn't it beautiful?

Every time I pass Cargo, the shop that sells it, I have to go in and visit "my" sofa.

I've already been in several times to take measurements, and compare them to the length of my walls. So the staff probably wonder why I keep coming back to see it. They probably think I'm a crazy woman. But I don't care.

I just like to go and look at it and spend some time with it. And imagine what it will look like in my spare room.

I probably will buy it when the room's decorated, and of course I am planning the decoration around the sofa bed (and not the other way around). The decoration should be something simple, light and not overpowering, the focal point of the room will not be the walls.

As a bed I'm not even sure how comfortable it will be. It's made from a leathery material, and I've only ever slept on a normal mattress. Will it be comfortable for sleeping on? I'm not sure. And I don't know how you're supposed to tell.

Shops let you sit on chairs, and you can pretty much tell how comfortable they are to sit on; whether they will be supportive for your back, and whether they suit the way you like to sit.

But it's more difficult with beds. Ok, you're allowed to lie on them, and this gives you a general idea of softness and support. But to find out if a bed is really comfortable I think I would have to stay there all night. And most shops probably don't allow this!

While I would love to spend the night with my dream sofa bed, I think it would be heavily frowned-upon.

But I will buy it anyway when the time is right.

I'm usually practical in my buying; comfort is always a big factor. But just this once I will be reckless, this time I'm going for looks alone.

Thanks for your comment. I love the sleek lines too. I am am very much looking forward to purchasing it, and when I do will update this hub! It is quite futon-like in appearance, but the 'mattress' part is a bit more leathery and thicker than on a futon.

I do also like the look of futons, and have been considering buying one, although they are on the expensive side. Right, there are no bars. And if there is a space between the two parts I think it's very small. An important point to note is that its size is in between a single and a double. I think I will take my husband to the shop on my next visit and get him to lie on it next to me, to see how comfortable it might be as a double!

Will let you know how it goes.

I am very interested to know whether this sofa bed is comfortable! I look forward to the follow up comment on this, after you purchase it. I have yet to find a comfortable sofa bed! I have slept on expensive sofa beds and futons and I have not found one that does not leave me feeling achy. Most have bars, but this one just folds down, right? Is there a space between the two parts? As I said, I will be most interested to discover how you slept! I am in need of a sofa bed, though I cannot buy it today. Thank you so much for your honest evaluation. I also like its sleek lines.
